Architect designed house stands above the fishing port of Carradale on the Kilbrannan Sound. A west facing conservatory looks on to a mature garden. An observatory looking east towards Arran lets you sit and watch sea birds flying beneath your feet. Strictly no smoking.
Perched on a cliff on the east coast of the remote Kintyre peninsula, The Green Room is a unique, peaceful self catering holiday retreat in the fishing village of Carradale. The house stands in the corner of the mature gardens of a Victorian villa - Ardcarrach, meaning "high rock". The garden looks out over the sea on three sides. A golf course lies to the west.
The entire first floor of The Green Room is a living room in the form of a spectacular long gallery punctuated by uninterrupted sea views. The living room has an excellent piano. The island of Ailsa Craig floats on the southerly horizon, the Isle of Arran marches along the east and the vista of the Kilbrannan Sound extends 60 kilometres north to Bienn Mhor on the Cowal Peninsula.
The house is a bird-watcher's delight. Immediately below the cliff, a small island is populated by gulls, cormorants, shags, oystercatchers, and, in their season, eider ducks. Gannets, seals, and, occasionally, otters, dolphins, and even minke whales and basking sharks pass by. October gales sweep up the Sound dashing great waves over the island. Our dark winter skies are ideal for star gazing. And the explosion of spring flowers among the rocks along the foreshore is the highlight of our year.
The house has all the comforts you would expect in a house built in 2000, including wi-fi. It has one large double bedroom. An additional guest can be put up on a day-bed in the "garden room". If needed, a mattress is available to put upstairs for a fourth person. There is both a bath and a shower.
Up to two well- behaved dogs are welcome. No smoking.
You can park your car immediately in front of the house. You are welcome to use the garden, including making use of the croquet set.
We live the other side of the lawn. We work from home so we are almost always here should you have any questions or needs.
The back gate of the garden leads out to the golf course, or you can go for walks or cycle rides. The garden looks out over the sea to the isle of Arran.
Up to two well behaved dogs are welcome. No smoking. Change over days are Mondays and Fridays. On the day that you leave please remember that the cleaners will arrive at 10:30am.
