Newly remodeled, comfortable, welcoming apartment with lots of light. Located on the ground floor of a three-level building originally built in the 1920s. Situated in a peaceful residential neighborhood biking distance to the beach, parks, and city center. Ideal for a family of two adults with 2-3 children.
Our home is open and full of light. It is quiet and peaceful. You should find everything that you need to prepare meals in the kitchen, as well as linens and towels. Upon previous agreement bicycles can also be made available.
If you have children, we have child and infant seats, steps for the WC and sink, a kids picnic table for eating in the garden, and plenty of toys. A crib and baby bath can also be made available if needed. The bunk beds are meant for children rather than adults.
As this is the home where we live, guests should feel at home but also respect our personal belongings. There is a small office which we would like to remain closed.
We make our home available when we are away, you will therefore not meet us, but rather a friend who will hand you the keys. You should leave the keys on the dinning room table and shut the door when leaving.
Very beautiful, child-friendly neighborhood. Our street is very residential, quiet, and peaceful. You can walk in a few minutes to Fahrenheitstraat shopping street which has all of the basic stores you could need, supermarkets, bakeries, cafés, restaurants, HEMA, Blokker, Bruna, and more. Even closer from Fahrenheitstraat you have Thomsonlaan which has Thai, Indian, and Surinamese sit-in or take our restaurants and the popular and child-friendly Bagels and Beans for coffee or lunch anytime. It is an extremely convenient location.
There are several buses (24, 21) and trams (3, 11, 12) within 5-10 minutes walking distance. The easiest way to arrive by public transportation is to arrive at Den Haag Centraal, take Tram 3 in direction of Loosduinweg and get off at Valkenboskade, walk down Eiplaan street for 1 block and take a left on Populierstraat for 1 block.
From our home, bus 21 takes you to Scheveningen, bus 24 takes you to Den Haag Centraal Station. Trams 11 and 12 take you to Holland Spoor. Tram 3 passes the shopping center, Grote Markt, Spui, and then Central Station. You are also 10 min bike ride from the beautiful dunes and beaches of Zuiderstrand and 10-15 min bike ride to the center of town, Grote Markt.
On our street there are two locations where garbage bags can be thrown away.
The office and the closets in the bedrooms contain our personal belongings and should be off-limits.
Depending when you arrive we may not meet, but I am available by phone, messages, or email anytime, and if someone needs to come to the house to give you a hand, a friend will be available to do that.
We expect our guests to respect any personal belongings in our home and to leave it as they found it. If anything is broken we expect you to report it to us.
I am married to a wonderful man named Bas; and together we have two beautiful children ages 3 and 5, Luna and Liam. I am Colombian/American and he is Dutch, we met while working in Mozambique and live Holland since 2012. Bas and I both work in the international development sector and have both lived in Africa for many years; we feel experiencing other cultures from the lens of its people is our lifestyle. Our home is quiet simple but cozy and inviting. We try not to have things that we don't need or keep things that we don't use, of course it happens now and then, but we try. We also don't have a TV, we just haven't gotten around to it, and mostly we don't think about it. We love our neighborhood and particularly our street. All of its families are kind and friendly to each other and a few have become our good friends, we trade baby sitting, run together, and can also call on each other when you ran out of eggs and need one urgently. We hope that you will experience our home as well!
