I am a registered nurse working in a special needs school near Ft. Belvoir Army base; I am from a family of five children, my father Harold is a pediatrician and when he retired at age 60 he and my mother moved to the mountains of Southwest Virginia on the Blue Ridge Parkway, Milepost 180; Mountain Meadows at Milepost 180 hosted many happy days of children, grandchildren, weddings, birthdays, and working and playing together throughout the year. It has now returned to the days of Bed and Breakfast which my father and mother ran while they lived there, and we are again hosting guests so that we can share with others the mountain air, scenery, and peace and quiet of Mountain Meadows. I love the walks down the country road with my dog, Tilly, biking and hiking all around the area, travelling to foreign countries with my husband and children (I have four), spending time with dogs (we have trained two dogs for Guiding Eyes for the Blind - if you come you will meet retired Tilly), spending time with my father (now 89) and brother and sisters is a highlight, and reading a good book or cooking a new recipe from garden-fresh ingredients are joyful experiences to me.
When you come to visit us either in the mountains, or in Washington, D.C., we will hope to make you feel at home and assist you in getting your bearings, and sharing the places to go and best times and ways to get a great experience. We are glad to visit with you and other guests to swap a few stories and find out more about what brought you to our B & B.
My husband and I, and Tilly, live in Alexandria, Virginia, walking distance to the Potomac River and not far from Ft. Belvoir and Washington, D.C. We have a guestroom with private bath if you wanin the Northern Virginia/Washington, D.C. area.
