A cosy room in a home filled with travel treasures. A mix of old and new, our home is a 5 minute walk from Foothill hospital. It also has easy access to public transit, downtown and the mountains.
The house is a mix of old and new. The original portion of the house was built in 1928 and was a farmhouse that lay between what was then Calgary and the town of Bowness; Bowness is now a community within Calgary and the house is surrounded by a bustling city. The house has been lived in and added on to making it a unique blend of the old and new. In the winter there are lots of cosy spaces to warm up in. In the summer there is an amazing perennial flower garden to enjoy outside. Our space comfortably fits one person.
Aside from the private room and private bathroom, guests will have shared access to the main level of the house including the kitchen and dining area, the living room and entertainment room. The outside space is also shared. There is a private driveway reserved for guests in the front of the house. Off limit spaces include the upper level, basement and garage. There is a coffee maker available and for those that are familiar with espresso makers we have one of those too. There is always fair-trade coffee in the house.
We live normal lives and will come and go during your stay. Our hope is to be around to give you a tour of the home when you arrive and be available if you have any questions during your stay. Please make yourselves welcome and feel comfortable in our home. We are quite busy and are a family, so aren't available to help with a great deal of transport and touring, but will do what we can. If we are not around, we will be available by phone call or text.
We live down the hill, a five minute walk (though steep), from Foothills Hospital and the Tom Baker Cancer centre.
We expect guests to be respectful and to clean up after themselves. Smoking is not allowed on the property. And although we have a cat, we don't allow other pets into the house. Because this is a family home our preference is for quiet around 11:00pm and we prefer that guests don't bring others over without consulting us as hosts.
We are a family that have lived in Calgary since 2011. Niki currently manages a Cancer support centre, and Jason slits his time between carpentry and parenting. We have lived in different cultures, including Uganda, Northern Ireland and the USA. Our home reflects our travels. We enjoy learning about others experiences.
