Casa Sol is an ideal rental located in a quiet neighborhood just two blocks from the main avenue in the heart of Tulum. The high ceilings and spacious interiors are an open invitation to stay home, and the perfect welcome after a day at the beach.

Enjoy the comfortable king bed, the ample closet and direct access to the verdant backyard. I built this as my home, so it has lots of luxury finishes you won't find in most rentals. Inexpensive bikes available onsite. Welcome!

Casa Sol is a unique home built with care and featuring many touches of fine craftsmanship. This is a home created for me and my family, so comfort and convenience were integrated into the design. I'm particularly proud of the large kitchen. I hope you like to cook!

The high ceilings and spacious interiors are an open invitation to stay home, and the perfect welcome after a long hot day at the beach.

The room comes equipped with a king size bed, reading lamp, a desk and a large closet. It has a door that opens out to the backyard.

Our amenities include:

* Fully stocked kitchen with lots of counter space.
* Dining Room (seats 6)

You will have access to the front yard and the backyard, both of which feature verdant garden spaces and fruit trees. Feel free to pick a guanabana (sour sop) if its ripe, or try the chicozapote -it tastes like christmas.

There is a laundromat across the street offering wash and fold service.

The bathroom is shared with one other room.

The large and fully equipped kitchen is shared with two other rooms. A crate with your room number is on the counter for your convenience and to help keep the kitchen clean. Please store your groceries there.

I have a few bikes available for rent on site, first come first serve. Ask me for details upon arrival.

I'm usually around and available to help with anything. I try to be there soon after you first arrive and check in with you at some point during your stay. That said, if you have any issues let us know, we can't read minds. My contact info and that of a property manager we work with are posted inside the house to ensure you are able to reach us easily.

There is a dog living on the property. Her name is Taco and she is a sweet rescue dog. Please do not feed her or let her in the house. She is also not allowed on the street without a leash.

Tips, FAQ’s & House Rules

•Campsite Rule: leave the place as good as you found it or better.
•If there is an issue, let us know. We strive to provide a pleasurable experience for you but we lack mind reading abilities. So if there is something amiss or you think there are some improvements to be made, let us know.
•Respect the property and other guests.
•Keep noise levels down after 10pm.
•Please DO NOT flush toilet paper, personal hygiene products, etc. Use the waste basket provided instead.
•Only dogs that are friendly (to humans and dogs) and well trained are welcome. No diggers! No cats or other species of animals.
•Local guide books are on the dining room table. Feel free to use them, but please don't take them with you when you leave.
•There is a bookcase in the hallway with paperbacks, local tourist maps, playing cards, a frisbee, snorkel masks, yoga mats, insect repellent, sunscreen, etc. Use these things! And if you want to donate anything to future guests leave it there.
•Hand wash snorkel masks after each use with dish soap.
•Wash yoga mats after each use and hang them to dry.
•No smoking inside please. $100usd will be deducted from your security deposit if you are caught smoking or leave behind any evidence of having smoked indoors.
•If you finish it, replace it (condiments, spices, olive oil, etc).
•If you turn it on, turn it off.
•If the trash is full take it out (there is a bin on the sidewalk) and replace the liner bag.
•Wash your dishes; wipe down counters; clean up any messes you make when you make them.
•Knives should be used on cutting boards only. Wash, dry and put away knives after every use.
•Teflon pots and pans: use only wooden or plastic utensils. Never use anything metal. When washing them, don't scrub them out; use only the soft part of the sponge.
•Disinfect fruits and vegetables. Those with a smooth outer texture (apples, pears, tomatoes, etc.) can be disinfected in tap water. All others (lettuce, cabbage, etc.) use purified water. The disinfectant drops are under the sink in a blue plastic bottle. Use as directed.
•Fridge: Put your name and date on anything you don't want tossed or eaten. The fridge is cleaned out once a week. If something isn’t labeled, others may use it or cleaning staff may toss it.
•Don't leave fruit and vegetables in plastic bags outside of the fridge. In this tropical climate they rot fast.
•There is a laundry hamper in the kitchen/dining area. Please deposit dirty washcloths, towels, cloth napkins, etc. here. (DO NOT deposit personal items; we do not offer laundry service).
•There is a wash and fold laundry place across the street.
•WiFi is readily available at many restaurants, beach clubs and hotels. It is rarely reliable or fast, so be prepared to do without at times.
•Tip properly:
Spare coins at taco stands.
15% minimum when eating out.
$5usd minimum for housekeeping staff; more if staying for over three nights.
$5usd for tour guides; it may be more depending on the tour.
You do not need to tip taxis unless hiring them for a tour, for the day or for the airport.
•Rent a bike or scooter. Finding parking on the beach road can be difficult and they will ticket you for parking on the shoulder.
•Bicycles are available on site for a small fee. Write us for more information.
•Many locals will give you a ride to and from the beach. Hitch from the road leading to the beach. Trust your instincts and avoid doing so after dark or alone.
•Lock the door behind you. Don't forget your keys!
•Please lock and scramble the lockbox after using it.
•Check out is before 12pm. There is sometimes flexibility on this but you need to ask and get the okay from us.
•Leave the keys on the desk in your room when checking out.
•Have fun!

มีสัตว์เลี้ยงในที่พัก - Taco is a well behaved friendly dog. Feel free to leash her and take her on walks!
ไม่มีที่จอดรถ - Street parking is available
ต้องใช้พื้นที่บางส่วนร่วมกับผู้เข้าพักคนอื่น - Kitchen and dining rooms are shared, as are the bikes that you can rent.

Richard's place was wonderful. Always clean common areas and fresh towels. I liked how organized the refrigerator and common areas were for food storage per room. AC worked well, plenty of water and the bikes for rent were a nice bonus. The place felt secure; keys for the room, front door, and door to street. Thanks for the use of yoga mats as well!

Richard was so on top of everything. He responded quickly and the room was beautiful. The bed was extremely comfortable. He has bikes you can rent for super cheap. 50 pesos a day each. That's less then 3 US dollars. We walked to food and drinks and one night needed something different so we went on a bike ride. He lives right next to an awesome bike trail. I'll be getting in touch with him again on my next trip to Tulum. Thank you Richard

Richard's place is an absolute gem in Tulum. It is quiet, clean, cozy, and comfy. We had a huge king bed with super nice sheets, wonderful hot shower, filtered drinking water in the kitchen, bikes to use for a small fee right there if we needed, a huge light filled kitchen to use if we wanted, and a small outside garden. I would totally recommend this place !

I was born in San Miguel de Allende in central Mexico and moved to Florida for high school and New York for college. My father is from Veracruz and my mother is a former army brat that grew up all over the US, so I am not just bilingual but totally bicultural.

I own and operate La Palmita Tulum Accommodations as part of a family of entrepreneurs overworking ourselves in paradise. I take care of most rental inquiries and am very hands on at La Palmita and my father's property Akiin Beach. As a Tulum resident since 2007 I can be a great resource for anything you might need during your stay. Just ask!

When I joined Airbnb in 2010 I was one of the first listings in Tulum. It has grown a lot since then both as a community and in the complexity of the platform. With so much practice I know my way around the site and am happy to work with you on more complicated bookings for multiple guests, locations, dates, etc.

When I'm not responding to Airbnb requests I train for an event called Travesia Sagrada Maya, run an ultimate frisbee pick up game, play poorly in a local soccer team, swim in cenotes and hang out with my wife and our dog.
