Our 525 sq. ft. one-bedroom apartment over our garage is walkable to downtown Carbondale. Or ride the 2 guest bikes. It's comfortable for three adults max, private entrance and quiet with great views. Remodeled in 2015, you will find everything you need for your mountain town vacation, yoga training, or a large quiet space for the business traveler.
Our spacious 525 sq. ft. non-smoking, pet-free apartment accommodates a maximum of 3 adults and has a private entrance and is well lit from large windows on three sides. A custom room divider, permanently suspended, separates the bedroom from the other spaces. The living room futon converts to a Full size bed to accommodate up to 1 extra adult or child (please note our fee for third guest). The apartment has a new bathroom including a large walk-in shower. There is a fully equipped kitchen, including a 2-burner cooktop, sink, refrigerator, microwave, coffeemaker, electric tea kettle, and other appliances and utensils. In April 2015 a new and larger private deck was finished to complement the interior remodel.
We are centrally located for easy access to Main Street, Carbondale's festivals, events, outdoor activities, and RFTA public bus transportation to Aspen or Glenwood Springs. We're located just 5 walkable and safe blocks from shops, restaurants, & galleries on Main Street; 1 block from the Third Street Center; 5 minute walk to River Valley Ranch golf course; and a 10 minute walk to Sopris Park, the town pool and RFTA bus transportation.
*We live onsite and are usually around. No impersonal property management company here.

*We are licensed, taxed, and insured. Yes, we gladly pay state and local sales taxes and Carbondale lodging tax (totaling 10.4% of your reservation). These are INCLUDED in your nightly rate.

Carbondale is a gem unto itself and is centrally-located in the Roaring Fork Valley. Carbondale is an excellent base camp for:

*Ice skating (Dec - Mar) at Rodeo Grounds and in Town on Main St.
*Wild West Rodeo (mid June - August) one mile out of town

*Over 60 miles of paved road biking on the old Rio Grande Trail just 6 blocks away. To Aspen and through Glenwood Springs to the Hot Springs and spectacular Glenwood Canyon and South to Redstone.

As hosts we want to interact as much or as little as you like. Please let us know, since we love good company and meeting people, but also respect privacy. We love living here and are happy to make recommendations, provide tips and loan hiking maps.
*We have 2 well-maintained Townie bikes with baskets for your exclusive use during your stay. Use them to explore our town and go grocery shopping. Some people have even taken them on the bike paths 12 miles to Glenwood Springs. Or bring your own bikes and store them under the deck.

Only guests approved during booking are permitted in the apartment. If additional guests stay overnight, additional fees will be charged.
If you need a late check-out please ask when you Request To Book. We will do our best to accommodate, but often have back to back guests. We allow ourselves (yes, we are the "maids") 4 hours to get the apartment super clean and prepared for ALL our wonderful guests.
We are a semi-retired couple, meaning that Hank is recently retired and Shelle is not, who love all that Carbondale is: a warm and friendly mountain town with a rich ranching and mining history; a town with a vibrant arts scene and a burgeoning live music scene; a town with an independent movie theater and first class restaurants; a town close to world-class skiing and snowboarding, and a town that hasn't lost it's character and "messy vitality" like so many other mountain towns. Between the two of us, we have 4 grown children and 4 adorable grandchildren (I'll spare you the boatloads of photos). We blended our families 18 years ago and moved into a large house. Now that the nest is empty, we've converted part of it into a very private and deluxe apartment. We enjoy travel when possible and prefer to experience real life and real folks in other locales rather than just the tourist experience, and we think you might feel the same way. It's why we got into Airbnb, both as guests and as SuperHosts! Between the two of us we can speak a little French, a little Nederlands and very little Spanish.
