Kirklands of Cromar is a country house B&B located in the Aberdeenshire village of Tarland. The house was built in 1840 and has its own grounds and Victorian walled garden. Tarland is handy for touring Royal Deeside. Bathroom shared with owner.
This bright, airy double room has views to the nearby hills. The bathroom has a bath, basin, and toilet, and is shared with the owners. A single bed can be added for a child for a small extra cost.
Upgrade to the "Garden View Room" if you want a private bathroom - only a little extra per night.
You will have use of a large light-filled sitting room/library (see photo), which may be shared with other guests. You are welcome to use the gardens, which can be used for picnics or afternoon drinks. Please note the property has stairs and is not suitable for people unable to climb stairs.
We are happy to interact with guests as little or as much as they like. Morna is a walking encyclopedia on Scottish history, and is happy to share her knowledge. We are both keen outdoor people, and happy to share our knowledge of walks, bike rides, and places to visit.
Morna provides a simple cooked or continental type breakfast.
We hope guests will treat our house as we do with kindness and respect for her age and beauty. There is absolutely no smoking inside the house. We are happy for alcohol to be consumed - within reason. We may allow dogs depending on the breed and whether they can stay in a kennel with run or in your car.

I am a Scot, who was born near Dundee, and I live in Aberdeenshire with my husband, David. We have travelled extensively round the world, and most recently on a trip to Croatia using Airbnb properties. Previously, I ran a B&B from our house, and am starting up again, after a period abroad. I am a walking encyclopaedia on Scotland, and if I can't answer a question, we can consult my considerable library on Scotland and Scottish history. I love my garden even if I am not overly fond of the work it entails! Come and share our garden with us.
