Villa Misciattelli: come and spend a relaxing holiday in the spaces of our Villa and in the peace of our Park with a breathtaking sight on one of the most beautiful towns in Italy.
In winter what about a glass of Chianti in front of the fireplace?
The flat is on the ground floor of a villa ( XVIII century) situated in the middle of a very large park ( 3 hectares) with lots of trees and spaces to relax in a “ sea of green”.
Walking in the park you can meet squirrels, pheasants and hares.
In the 19th century this peaceful corner attracted the famous American artist William Wetmore Story. He lived in Rome (Palazzo Barberini) and in Siena ( Villa Misciattelli) with his family to be inspired by Italian Art.
Among his masterpieces " Cleopatra" ( 1858 - Virginia Museum of Fine Arts in Richmond, Virginia) and "Medea" ( 1868, Metropolitan Museum of Art). In the rooms of Villa Misciattelli W. Story received lots of American and English guests like Robert Browning and his wife Elizabeth.
In the flat there is a large hall with a big fireplace; there are two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen and a large living room with three bow-windows looking on to the “giardino all’italiana” with a lot of plants of lemons. Here you can have your meals, if you like, you'll find tables and chairs on open air.
Besides there is a very large antique reception room where you can organize your evenings with your friends, if you like.
The antique walls protect the rooms from the hot summer.
Our guests will be able to use all the apartment and walk in the park or to relax on the benches during the day respecting the hours of the rest ( h-1-4 in summer and 12-8 at the night.
We can show you our town, talking about its history and its traditions.
If you want to go to the historical centre of Siena you can walk leaving your car in the park( it will take you about 20-25 minutes) or you can take a bus.
In an hour you can reach Firenze, San Gimignano , Volterra, Pienza, Montalcino and other nice villages. In the neighbourhood you can visit cellars and taste very good wines.
If you like trekking you can explore the country around or along the ancient Via Francigena.
In the space in front of the sitting roon you'll find tables and chairs to have your meals on open air, if you like. From the terrace a glimpse of the breathtaking view of the secular park and the towers of the town.
