Experience the Lew House by renowned architect Richard Neutra, father of Mid-Century Modernism. Featured in Interior Design, Elle Decor, Dwell, and the LA Times Magazine, located in the hills just a half-mile above the Sunset Strip and West Hollywood, the heart of LA's best nightlife, restaurants, and shopping. Enjoy dazzling views, fresh flowers, and fine linens among 3000 sq. feet of designer mid-century antiques and art, carefully chosen over two decades for you to enjoy.
Not an engineered board or mass-produced stick of furniture in sight. Enjoy the best pieces of Vladimir Kagan, Paul McCobb, TH Robsjohn-Gibbings, and Milo Baughman in their period setting. Walk on handwoven silk rugs, live with original art by LA artists, sleep and towel off with Pratesi and Frette luxury linens. Invite a few friends over to lounge by your saltwater pool and spa overlooking Los Angeles. Make yourself totally at home.
There are four equally luxurious en suite bedrooms. The Fireplace Room has a queen bed, fireplace, enormous, custom-built wood closet, great views, and terrazzo bathroom; the Deck Room has a king bed and its own outdoor deck and great views; the Original Master has a queen bed, tons of storage, an amazing work area, and the best views in the house; The Pool Room has a queen, its own kitchen and bath, and a luxurious mix of city and garden views. There are comfy beds for eight adults, and children are welcome in multiples. There are air mattresses, couches, blankets, a play structure, a bamboo forest, and plenty else to explore. The pool has a motorized cover and is completely gated, as is the entire flat, grassy 20' x 60' garden.
You'll arrive to find the house climate-controlled, stocked with staples, fresh flowers, crisp sheets, good towels, bottled water, hairdryers, bathrobes, and toiletries. Enjoy all the amenities of the best hotels with the utmost in privacy and anonymity.
I am available to answer any question, no matter how small, by text message seven days a week from 6AM to 10PM.
The hills are a dense neighborhood, and their shape acts as a natural amphitheater. People below don't just hear everything; they get an amplified version. It's essential that all evening socializing move indoors after 10PM and all doors be closed. Only small daytime gatherings are allowed, as long as there is no loud music. Our neighbors are incredibly lovely and reasonable people. Please be kind.
It is imperative that all socializing move indoors at 10PM and all doors be closed. Sound carries extremely well in the hills. The neighbors are lovely, reasonable people. We really want to be respectful of them. Small daytime or evening gatherings might be allowed, but please discuss these with your host in advance.
Originally from Alabama, I've lived in LA and worked in the movie business for over 20 years. Most of that time I've been restoring this incredible home built by architect Richard Neutra and filling it with beautiful art and furniture. It was my baby until I had two real babies, and the time came to finally move on and leave my home completely intact for you to enjoy. I consider you my personal guest and will do anything to make your stay more convenient, comfortable, and fun. I'll be available night and day by text message and just twenty minutes away in Hancock Park if you need anything. Welcome!
