On our common dock over the water we offer a full meal service.

ที่พัก

The island San Cristobal has no roads, trails, or electricity, but we have solar panels, rainwater collection, and wifi to ease our guests into off the grid living. A boat ride to and from the property is included in the fee.

The entire property is reserve-able when you book for 16 or more guests. We have a variety of cabins here to accommodate your large group.

Along the water front are 4 cabins and 1 house.

The Reef Cabin perched atop the island's coral reef, offers two private bedrooms , The Sunrise Room which has a king sized bed, and The Diving Board Room which has a queen size. These Cabins sit above the Kitchen and the common space, where meal services are provided. On this deck there is also a fresh water shower (biodegradable soap only, please!) the composting toilet is a 2 minute walk, on the land.

For seperate bookings of the Reef Cabin Rooms only please see: https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/919910

The House up on the hill is made completely with lumber grown on site, and has a 180 degree view of the Tierra Oscura Lagoon. It has a master bedroom with a king sized bed; a screened-in loft space with 3 queen sized beds, which can be converted into a yoga studio or meeting space, and a basement dorm with 3 beds. This house has a septic system with a shower and 2 flushing toilets and a full kitchen.

Clean linens and towels are provided for all guests.

Meal services are offered on the dock, but spices, cooking oils, rice, and other kitchen basics are provided for your use, should you want to cook for yourselves, along with fresh young coconut juice, bananas, and other fresh goods from the property. (Cilantro, lemongrass, and citruses all grow around the Hill House!)

Tours are also available to neighboring beaches, rivers and towns, pricing varies by the number of guests. Round trip boat ride will take you to the town of Bocas del Toro, or Old Bank on Bastimentos, which have many bars and restaurants, a fun backpacker party scene, some very good food, some not-so-good food, an airport, several small supermarkets, local fruit and vegetable stands, and lots of local color and diversity. A similar boat trip will take you to the mainland (Almirante), a jumping off point for extended trips to Panama's incredible cloud forest or Costa Rica. We also offer tours to neighboring beaches and National parks, Zapatillas islands, Red Frog Beach and Starfish Beach are the most famous.

Bring your bug spray, your hiking boots, and your bathing suit! It's tropical adventure time!

!!! IMPORTANT: THIS IS A RUSTIC PLACE, NOT A RESORT !!!

It's for the adventurous, who want reasonable comfort in a remote setting, and want to experience realities of rural life in the tropics. In addition to the abundant pleasures of the lush forests and reefs, you should expect to…..

GO OFF GRID: You will run out of running water if you take long showers or if the rains don't come. The solar panels are backed by a generator, but you'll need to remember to turn off lights and fans when not in use — especially when the clouds hang out for a few days.

WEAR BUG PROTECTION: We are bug conscious in the design of our accommodations. You will see dozens of geckos feeding on the insects on the outside of the screens that keep you nice and relatively bug free in the house. That being said, a layer of coconut oil, or bug spray can keep you comfortable during "Chitra Hour" when the no-see-ums come out at dawn and dusk. These critters are generally predictable, so its easy to be prepared.

ผู้เข้าพักใช้อะไรได้บ้าง

When your group of 16 or more guests book the Tropical Island Jungle Retreat, 145 acres of jungle is yours to explore.

Fresh water is imported for your drinking, and bathing water is collected from the rain.

Solar panels allow you to keep up a good charge on your cameras and cellphones. They support our kick-ass WiFi, so you can post all your pictures on (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN)! #Cocovivo

Meal Services are provided upon request, we cater to vegans and vegetarians and people with other nutritional preferences. We use local ingredients, either bought from our neighbors or grown right here on site. Breakfast and Dinner go for 28$ per day per person.

Snorkel gear and kayaks, as well as other fun floatation devices are here for your enjoyment.

Guided hikes of the property are free of charge.

Guests have a number of tours to choose from, priced dependent on the number of participants. Locally led Horse-back Riding, Chocolate tours, beach days, and town visits to mention a few. If there is somewhere you would like to explore that is not in our list of tours, the boat is available to charter with our captain Leo (He grew up here!)

Our second time here and we leave as relaxed as the first time! Amazing location, come for relaxation and atmosphere. The day trip to Zapatilla Island is not to be missed, supported by Leo you are in good hands. Accommodation is basic but all that you need, the opening of several restaurants accessible by boat nearby makes meal flexibility even better. Lazare and Carmen are warm and welcoming hosts and able to assist with all of your questions. We stayed previously in the Hill House, this time in the Mangrove Tree House. Can highly recommend the Mangrove House. Also recommend a night swim for the bio-luminescence, it is surreal.

We decided to spend a full week at Coco Vivo with with our family, including children of various ages (8, 5, 3 years and 15 months). Communication with Carmen and Lazare had been smooth from the start which had allowed us to plan our family vacation without any problems. Right after our pick up from Bocas town we realized that all those positive comments here had not been exaggerated. When passing by the dolphin bay we saw three dolphins which were swimming and playing with the waves our boat was making. Magical! Once we had arrived at Coco Vivo we were delighted about our accommodations which were all clean and nicely decorated. Especially the Mangrove Tree House has a beautiful and very tasteful design. The kids loved the fact to live in such a natural environment (incl. the eco toilets!)! The water around the location was beautiful, snorkeling was fun and with Lazare being very passionate about the surroundings, exploring the reef and jungle with him were great activities to do! As we were travelling with small children we decided to visit Red Frog beach on two days to and Lazare and Carmen were happy to organize those trips for us. Food wise, we went for the meal plan which included a great breakfast (the meal changed every day a bit to keep some variety, including coconut buns, omelette, pancakes, yum!) and a three course dinner. Here again, Carmen and Lazare did wonders in the kitchen, everything tasted so delicious! One of the highlights of our stay was to swim with bioluminescent plankton at night; even the kids went into the water to experience this magical phenomenon! To sum it up, we had an amazing time at Coco Vivo. Carmen and Lazare are very dedicated hosts who truly love what they are doing and the nature that surrounds them. I recommend highly this location if you are looking for a vacation that is different from the ordinary and if you are looking to reconnect with nature and the real things in life. We'll definitely come back!

Our time at Coco Vivo was incredible. The treehouse lodge was beautiful, spacious, and serene - the property as a whole was a wild and unruly paradise. The island served as a perfect hub for the wider Bocas Del Toro area. During our 6 days, we took day trips to surf, hike, and horseback ride. The days we spent relaxing at Coco Vivo though were just as relaxing and fun. Carmen and Lazare were amazing hosts - and both were so accommodating and kind. Thank you so much for the best vacation we ever could have asked for!

I organized a weekend trip for my grad school class, we were 31 people from 10+ nationalities and vastly different travel preferences. Carmen and Lazare went above and beyond in accommodating us and multiple people have raved about how life-changing this was. It may seem too good to be true, but it isn't! Thank you again!!!

Love this place - I've stayed in both the Hill House and the little loft with the diving board. The Hill House is great for seclusion and privacy, but be prepared to hike up that hill. The loft is nice because you can literally jump into the lagoon from your room, but you are also right above the common area. I'm an introvert so I don't like being near the common area, so preferred the Hill House for privacy, but then had to be willing to climb far up and down to get between the water and our room. Over all both great stays and I'd go again.
