lowest cottage(100 steps from carpark up a steep hill)..1 double and 3 single bed..small kitchen..outdoor grill..and covered patio....upstairs bedroom with harbor views..if you have heavy suitcases, this cottage is the easiest to access..being in the jungle, expect to see the occasional lizard and insect..we prefer to rent this space to 3 or more persons ....

smal hillside cottage overlooking port antonio and the carribean sea ..walking distance to transportation, markets, beaches and other attractions..the cottage is 150 steps thru the jungle up a hill from the car park....this cottage is the closest to the car park...small kitchen..linens provided..beds covered with mosquito net..long pants/socks advisable in the early evenings..some vsitors take a nite or two to get used to the sounds of early morning dogs and roosters..the woman living below this cottage occasionally has loud conversations with jesus..water is not hot unless u choose to heat it on the stove..small yard and outdoor patio..sleeps 5 ppl..comfortable walking shoes with good gripping soles are advisable,a tip on luggage..suitcases are impractical due to the steep terrain..backpacks are a better option...best to arrive before dark..

this cottage was recently renovation and now has a 2nd floor bedroom with improved views of the (URL HIDDEN) mentioned before,we prefer to rent this cottage to 3 or more ppl..

Michael's place was absolutely beautiful. We came as a group of four and enjoyed every minute of our stay. It was the perfect size for us. The bedroom view is spectacular! Thank you! We look forward to coming back here.

Absolutely beautiful the description doe at do it justice ! After walking through a lush area of jungle we came to our cute like bungalow !! Such an amazing view overlooking port Antonio and the Caribbean Sea for sunrise and sunset ! Great wifi also I could actually use Netflix on my iPad here so that's a plus after traveling for a while since the wifi worked so well ! All interaction with hosts were very pleasant . I'm thankful to have found the space and will plan to come again when I visit this area again ! Thanks

The Almond Tree is a beautiful place to stay in the hills of Port Antonio. The view over the town and see is really lovely. The host Michael is a genuine and kind man and very welcoming to his guests. The surrounding vegetation of the hills is so pleasant. Michael has made his Almond Tree accommodations something very special!

Mike was really welcoming and helpful host, always there for whatever you need and giving advice to make the most of your stay in port Antonio. we really enjoy our stay at mango ridge, the setting was really nice with trees and plants all over gives a nice feeling. Robin, mike's assistant, is amazing, always there for whatever we needed gave us a tour of the town, giving advice and even climbed up the tree to gather coconuts for us, he made our stay even more pleasant. mike and robin make a really great team! I highly recommend Mango Ridge.

Michael was a fabulous host. From the very start; offering us a much-needed cold beer after our long bus ride and walk up the steps, giving us detailed suggestions for things to occupy our time, to cooking us a farewell breakfast, he was spot on in attentiveness and kindness. We felt as though we could ask him for anything and he would happily oblige. Just knowing he was nearby was a big comfort. His two children were very polite and sweet as well. The cottage was very clean when we arrived. They are crafted beautifully. We felt so welcomed. Traveler tips: Mango is not for everyone, as Michael states. It can get hot, the shower is VERY cold, lizards and bugs join you inside, and it can feel draining at times. Roosters and dogs wake you every morning starting at 4 am. We enjoyed the rustic ness, adventure, and living as true Jamaican's do- but, if you're keen on luxurious digs you may not want to commit to more than a few days here. If you love camping though, you'll love this even more. We stayed in the very top cottage and the view was stellar and worth the steps: However, it was QUITE a hike. We are both active and in reasonably good shape/health, and it was a rather exhausting trip up each time. We could really only accomplish it once a day, and by the time you get to the top you are absolutely drenched in sweat. If you are out of shape, inactive, or otherwise disabled AT ALL in any way I would not advise the top cottage. I'm not sure what the bathroom situation is like in the other cottages, but in the top cottage the toilet is basically right next to the bed with no curtain, and only a flimsy curtain separating the toilet from the rest of the living space. The top cottage is clearly meant for a couple or one person, so it was OK for us married folks, but for anyone traveling with...say, a friend, or kids, or someone you'd rather not hear or see do all their bathroom business (or feel too rude to ask them to wait in the hammock on the porch as is necessary) then I'd advise seeking out a cottage with a more private bathroom set up. MOSQUITO'S were a big issue for us: My legs were eaten alive the first few nights, even through tights and long socks and pants and the mosquito net. Bring DEET and mosquito coils to burn while sitting outside! (And really, sitting outside after dark at all is ill advised after our experience with the skeeters...) Humidity makes everything damp- and no direct sunlight in the top cottage doesn't help things dry out. I would recommend bringing plastic ziplock style bags to keep things in. Our passports, etc were super wet after the stay due to the humidity. Use Michael's go-to guide for a bamboo raft ride: Jeff was wonderful, informative...

thanks kylie..the upper cottage you stayed in is only rented to couples or a single person as it only has one large bed,so the privacy issues you elaborated on regarding the bathroom have not been an issue thus far..mike
