Located in the historic district of The Avenues, The Big Blue House is ideally situated, within walking distance of The Salt Lake Palace, City Creek Shopping Complex, and Temple Square.
This luxurious room is on the second floor of a beautiful, restored (2011) American Four Square built in 1903, but with every modern amenity. The room is centrally heated and air conditioned, has a flat screen T.V., a coffee maker, and luxurious linens. There is also a ceiling fan. The bathroom, with double sinks and granite counter top, is shared with one other room--but only if that room has been rented by another party. French doors open to an expansive balcony that provides a view of the Wasatch Mountains. The house is located in the historic district of The Avenues, considered by many to be the most desirable neighborhood in Salt Lake City. It is within walking distance of the Salt Palace Convention Center, as well as the newly opened City Creek complex, one of the largest mixed-used developments in the country, with restaurants, shopping, residential and office space. There is an art film theater a 15 minute walk away. Temple Square, an historical Mormon site, is also within walking distance. The free downtown tram stop is 8 blocks away, and the bus to the University of Utah campus is one block away. (The U of U campus is 3.4 driving miles.) Memory Grove, 2 blocks away is great for walking, jogging and bicycling. 25 miles to Snowbird; 32 miles to Park City; 30 miles to Alta, 28 miles to Solitude. This is also a great location for people seeking a comfortable place to stay while visiting friends/family members in one of the many nearby hospitals. LDS hospital is a 4 block walk away. Former New Yorkers, my husband and I moved to Salt Lake City in 1996. My husband teaches music theory and jazz piano at a university, and plays gigs around town. I teach at a private school in SLC. Our house is a l903 American Four Square that was completely renovated in 2010. We live in the historic district of The Avenues, within walking distance of the city center. We have a big yard with a vegetable garden, and fruit trees. The back patio with hammock is available for guests, as well as the living room with a grand piano. Although Cleo, our cat, is old and grumpy! we are laid back, easy going hosts who will make you feel like family. Our interests are travel, film, gardening, and cooking. We love meeting people from distant locations.
