The house was ok and appeared much like it looks in the picture presentation in the ad, a small three-bedroom house built as an addendum to a larger house. Having rented a number of similar properties close by, I would say it was somewhat similarly equipped, however, on the scarce side. It had, as stated in the ad, air condition which worked very well, cooling the house even though there was a heat wave during our first days. The house is not situated in an attractive part of Vodnjan, with the village’s only factory one of its neighbours. This location creates a bit of traffic on the small street outside the house in the mornings, at lunch and in the late afternoon. Compared to the description it also needs to be stated that the garden is not walled in but partly walled in. An attraction for us was that we thought beforehand that our dog could walk freely in it. As we arrived we quickly understood this was not possible. However, the big disappointment happened as we arrived and asked for the password to the wifi and it was explained to us that there was in fact no internet connection or wifi at all. We would never have rented the place knowing about this (the ad mentioned both internet connection and wifi) since we had brought work and our kids are internet junkies. As we came in the evening, Miriana’s daughter, I believe, tried to calm us with the news that it would be installed the next day but not as your usual wifi but as “internet on a stick”. The next evening a small box was delivered with a password. We installed it and identified it as some kind of mobile connection. It worked for us, albeit slowly, for three days after which download speeds dropped to say, two emails and downloading one homepage a day. We complained to Miriana after which it worked somewhat faster for an hour before once again turning so slow that it was not of any use to us. Obviously the mobile plan included very limited downloading and was never equipped to handle a family with computers, phones and Ipads. I resigned and concluded that Miriana did not understand that the ad hoc budget solution that she delivered in this regard was well below par, and in fact unacceptable to us. As mentioned I have rented properties close by that advertised internet and wifi and that worked okay. In this case however it did not, it even did not exist, and eventually we had to go home earlier because of the complaints we all had of this situation, us not able to perform work and the kids not able to play and communicate with friends. As I write this, a week after leaving the house, I see that it still is advertised as having internet and wifi. Unless it has been installed since we left, it has not. Unfortunately, I feel deceived.
