The name may conjure up images of Miss Havisham's crumbling mansion, but rest assured that The Dusty Victorian is very clean and well-maintained. When we first entered, it felt like walking into a dusty dream. Big and beautiful, built in 1889, the Dusty Victorian is located on a hill in the historic and picturesque stone town of St Marys, The Dusty Victorian is a fine example of a Folk Victorian villa with an Italianate influence. We have great expectations for our home and are constantly working at preserving and restoring its inherent charm. We are very proud that The Dusty Victorian is designated heritage, insuring that all her unique and original details will be protected for future generations to enjoy.
Enjoy our beautiful Victorian downtown with its many shops and restaurants. Our unique Grand Trunk nature trail trestle bridge is located nearby, but more about the parks and trails in St Marys can be found on the town's website. The Wildwood Conservation Area, just outside St Marys, is also perfect for nature lovers.
Always in season, St Marys has many festivals and events planned year round. Of course, Stratford's theaters, shops and restaurants are just 20 minutes away.
Should you be travelling alone, or part of a trio, the English study is appointed with a single bed, a night table, three bookcases, a reading chair and an antique writing desk. For a reasonable fee, this room can accommodate two more people with folding guest beds (weight restriction apply for guest bed). My husband Brian is a writer, I'm an artist and our daughter is a student. We, including our two small non-shedding dogs, will do our best to make your stay very enjoyable. We also have three little birds, you won't see them, but you will hear them. If you mind animal companions, then the Dusty Victorian is not for you. Note that the many steps leading up to our house and the bedrooms may be challenging to people with mobility issues. Those many steps can be hazardous to small children, we regretfully, can not accept children under 10 years old.
Plan ahead for the 2017 theatre season in Stratford. Looking forward to seeing you. Ample parking available. Late (after the theatre) check ins are not a problem. Should you be traveling by train and require pick-up and drop-off from the St Marys train station, we will be happy to provide this complementary service.
You can do a search on The Dusty Victorian to read a blog about the house and its owners.

Although we are not a retired couple, both my husband and I work from home so there's always someone home to answer questions or offer suggestions.
We kindly ask that you be environmentally friendly and energy conscious while in our home.
*No-smocking in or around the property.
*Although we are animal lovers, our male dog is not welcoming of four legged guests. We regretfully have to decline animal companions.
*Sorry, access to the kitchen is not part of the deal.
*If you are attending a wedding in St Marys, we understand that you are in a celebratory mood, but please don't use our home/room as a gathering place. Curfew to be discussed.

I’m a fashion designer by trade, but have left the industry and a very busy city life behind to return to my first love, the arts. I now live an artful town and country life with my husband, daughter, two dogs and little birds. I'm an animal lover, I also love gardening (even if my back doesn't) and I love my old house. They are a wonderful source of inspiration for my work. A century house requires a lot of attention and is a work in progress, but it's a great hobby. My previous job as a fashion designer took me to the most glamorous cities around the world. It's great to travel for work, but I'm looking forward to traveling for pure enjoyment. My husband Brian is a writer, editor and book collector - you will see this by the tremendous amount of books we have. My daughter Astrid is also an artist and a voracious reader. A perfect example of the fruit falling near the tree.
The Dusty Victorian offers you the opportunity to stay at a very well preserved Victorian home, owned by warm and welcoming people. Art, literature, current affairs and dogs are always topics of conversation. Your bedroom will be clean, comfortable - and simply, but tastefully decorated. You will be treated like we would treat friends.
