Bushy House is a colonial style cottage nestled in a ravine garden just outside the historic Old Town. The Lewis is one of two generous suites we provide. A full breakfast is delivered to your room or in your screened porch; slow down, and - enjoy.
At Bushy House, we have created a space for you to get away, regroup and slow down. The B&B suites are quiet and tasteful, and include fireplace and seating area, kichenette, and ensuite. Nonsmoking. Wifi is available and TV/DVD/VCR is provided. The Lewis Suite is most suited to double occupancy, with the queen bed in its bedroom. It can, however, accommodate 4 people - generally for a couple with two children, using the double hide-a-bed couch in the Suite's own living room for the extra. Out on your own screened-in porch, you can enjoy the quiet of the forest and the many birds that frequent our area, as you sip one of our local wines or enjoy the delicious breakfast we have prepared.
Your hosts live in the house, and are available for any questions or concerns. Otherwise, access is limited to the designated B&B areas within the house and all the gardens about. The kitchenettes in the suites are suitable for your own cold lunch or snack preparation, but not for cooking. The Lewis Suite shares an entrance with the Merton Suite, but it also has direct access out onto its own screened-in porch, looking out over the ravine garden and forest.
Interaction with the hosts is generally limited to the serving of breakfast, casual exchanges of enquiries, and spontaneity in the gardens. We are a friendly family, but try to give you some privacy as well.
Our B&B is part of the Fresh Start Initiative: dedicated to serving 85% local produce. We are minutes walk from the local Farmer's Market on Saturday mornings, and we raise our own chickens. Niagara is rich in orchards and vineyards, with fruit stands in abundance all through the week. There are many wineries throughout the peninsula, ranging from small family enterprises to large established names. Wine tours are a lovely way to spend an afternoon, whether you do it yourself or with the benefit of an informative and fun tour guide company. There are several in the area.
We work to respect your privacy and maintain a relatively quiet family household, and ask you to do the same. Our house is non-smoking, but you can stroll down the park road to enjoy one if you like. We provide you with a key to the rear entrance, which is designated for the B&B suites, so you can come and go as needed.

I am an artist who works sculpturally, lives creatively, teaches art at various elementary schools, and runs a successful B&B. Our family are all committed Christians, and we strive to live that out relationally and with integrity. And thankfulness.
I enjoy my book group, gardening, and our chickens. Our town is small and quaint; we have some good friendships here. Life expands even more as we have come to form friendships with some of the Jamaican seasonal workers who labour in the orchards and vineyards around us. Currently, I sit on the National Board of Young Life, and it is a privelege to work in this way with a wonderful organization. I count Young Life people among my most cherished life-long friendships. That responsibility heads me out to Western Canada a couple of times a year, where I can also take time to connect with family. My sister is a painter, and we love to get in the studio together (and watch a few movies in the evenings).
I do love film, and when I am feeling particularly in need of comfort I'll plug in a Jane Austen or Elizabeth Gaskell. Food is a good thing, and we have our share of local seasonal yummies around us. And don't get me started on music: Mozart to Bill Munroe to Van Morrison to Talking Heads - and a lot of in between.
