This comfortable, quiet and spacious home is the perfect base for exploration and relaxation. My 1909 Craftsman Bungalow is an historic treasure - you’ll love the large comfortable rooms, original wood throughout…she’s a real beauty. You will have the entire first floor, including a fully equipped gourmet kitchen, gorgeous large dining room, bright spacious living room and sitting room with windows everywhere, large newly remodeled period bathroom with clawfoot tub and walk-in tiled shower, and of course a bedroom with new memory foam mattress, desk, reading chair and couch. Beautiful furniture throughout includes many pieces made of salvaged hardwoods from Indonesia that complement the original wood floors, moldings, and wainscot.
You will have access to the entire 1500 square foot first floor, sharing only the kitchen and laundry. You’ll also have access to the covered front porch where you can look out over a front yard filled with native plants, in the shade of towering sweetgum trees.
I like to give our guests all the privacy they want, but I'm available to act as a guide to the city I love so much. I am very knowledgeable about Portland and the surrounding areas....and full of good ideas for your visit!
Thinking of moving to Portland? I have an extensive social network and I'm happy to provide contacts and advice.

The main thing to note and respect is that this is a peaceful house. I live in the floor above and two lovely people live in the basement apartment below (and share the laundry). There is no smoking in the house, and no pets are allowed inside.

I'm a professor at a local university (working in environmental studies, sustainability and mathematics) but also am president of an environmental non-profit that sponsors an amazing land trust in the Columbia River Gorge. As an avid traveler, I spend about 4 months of the year in Europe - for work and pleasure, but also travel to Asia quite often. I know Portland very well and love living here! As a host I really enjoy connecting my guests with places, activities and people who fit their interests. I'm a big fan of local food and wine and have loads of good recommendations. As a frequent hiker and fisher I can recommend lots of local options for enjoying the fabulous outdoor opportunities we have in the region. I think my house is perfectly suited to hosting - you have the first floor and I have the second, with the kitchen as our shared space. This gives me the ability to give my guests as much privacy as they want, but also offer the opportunity to socialize too! Several former guests have moved to Portland (not because of me!) and we have remained friends since.
