Situated in the old historic town of Chania. Ground floor equipped kitchen. Second floor double bedroom and bathroom, top floor sitting room/double bedroom with sofa bed, balcony, sea view. Cozy & bright. Near to the port, restaurants, cafes & bars.
My home is a carefully restored 200-year-old townhouse decorated in an elegant romantic style. On the ground floor you find a fully-equipped kitchen/living area, renovated in January 2017, with a round dining table and four chairs and a comfortable sofa. Partly open stairs lead to the second floor where the Master bedroom is and the recently renovated bathroom. Another set of stairs lead to the top floor where the sitting room/double bedroom is with a brand new sofa-bed. From the windows here you have sea view while from the spacious balcony there is city view. The whole house has a warm & cozy atmosphere. I especially love its brightness because of the large (double glazed) windows, which is seldom the case in the houses of the Old Town. The fact that all areas are openly connected with each other (no doors, except to the bathroom!) adds to the brightness in every corner of the house.
The house is situated in the Old Town of Chania in the fancy area of Splanzia in a quiet little pedestrian street, just a few minutes away from the sea and the Venetian Harbor. The house is in a neighborhood which is perfectly located in a part of the Old Town that is quiet and not commercial, so one can get a feel of living in an authentic residential area, getting away from the tourist crowds. At the same time, the house is just a few minutes away from all of the best restaurants, cafes, bars, and shops that the Old Town has to offer. Best of all, just a few steps from the house is the picturesque Venetian Harbor. And every Saturday there is a large colorful open market just two streets down the block with fresh local fruit and vegetables, cheese, olives and fish. The town of Chania and its famous Venetian Harbor are just minutes away on foot.
The central bus station is only a 10-15 minute walk from the house. Parking is available free of charge in the neighborhood, but not right outside the house, as it is a protected pedestrian area. But very close to the house( a few meters away), there is a small square where you can park your car for a while (for example to unload your luggage). There is also a large parking (from the community) only a few minutes away and free of charge. If you do not come in a rent car and you appreciate it, I can arrange for a taxi for you upon your arrival/departure or any other time you like.
The whole house is yours, living area & kitchen, bathroom, Master bedroom and top room (second bedroom), plus balcony.
I will always try to be at the house myself to welcome you and show you around. On some very rare occasions it may happen that I cannot personally be present upon your arrival, but there will always be a host to welcome you and to help you with anything you may need during your stay. And of course you can reach me per text/on phone at any time.
If you appreciate it, I can arrange for a taxi service upon your arrival/departure from or to the airport or any other time during your stay.
Baby cot is available, children under 4 years old are free of charge!
Hot water is solar powered. On cloudy days, you must turn the hot water switch on for approx 20 minutes, but turn it off before you bathe and never leave it on all day! The sofa bed in the top floor room is brand new and there are two Coco-Mat pillows among the available pile of pillows. We have just installed a brand new cooker in the kitchen in case you prefer cooking yourself. Under the sink in the kitchen you can find a fire extinguisher. Almost all windows are double glazed and the bathroom is being renovated in March 2016. There is air conditioning in the master bedroom and the top floor. In the kitchen/living area (ground floor) there is a fan. (It is always cool there due to the thick walls.)
There are open stairs leading to the first floor and to the top room. There are no doors separating the different rooms, except for the bathroom which has an antique door with iron ornaments.
Please respect my home as your own, and keep its belongings inside the house (e.g. towels, utensils, etc.). Please do not smoke inside the house but feel free to do so on the balcony. Respect the neighborhood and keep any noise low. Do not bring any pets into the house.

I have lived on Crete for more than 20 years and I love it! It is wonderful any time of the year. It's amazing to see all the different landscapes, the change of atmosphere when you travel around the island. Nothing is ever the same. And there is always more to discover. Crete's people and its impressive nature inspire me and I have been writing short stories about it for many years. In 2013, my first book was published, Kalimera Pefki. If you decide to visit Crete and stay in my house, I would be delighted to give you any information you need to make your stay a great one!
