Private room in our 175 year old farm house in the historic Village of Gagetown, NB.

We run a small sustainable farm with a few goats, chickens, rabbits & ducks. We operate our home as a travelers' hostel so we're used to having people in & out.

ที่พัก

Our hostel is located on a 2 acre sustainable farm in the historic Village of Gagetown. It is an old farmhouse that we're in the process of updating and modernizing but parts of the house are still very old. Everything is clean but much of the decor is still very dated (we'll call it "old-world charm").

The Village itself sits on the Saint John River which creates a plethora of outdoor activities. Check out the hostel website at (URL HIDDEN)

Our property provides a laid back country atmosphere for those looking for a peaceful getaway.

ผู้เข้าพักใช้อะไรได้บ้าง

Guests have access to everything! Kitchen, 2 full bathrooms, living room, dining room, outdoor eating areas in the summer (screened in front porch), fire pit, BBQ, etc. We also have wireless internet and, most importantly, GOATS! Who could resist!

การสื่อสารกับผู้เข้าพัก

We interact with guests as much or as little as they would like depending on our schedule. We are used to having people around and are generally good at gauging these types of things.

สิ่งอื่นที่ควรรู้

We do have a hypo-allergenic dog named "Beans" on the property. She's very friendly and loves other animals!

Our property has an old hand dug well (for water) which is used for showering, cleaning, etc. Water for drinking is provide for you in your room, and also in the kitchen for tea, coffee, cooking, etc.

Special Note: This is an operational farm all year round. We sometimes have projects on the go, and we do our best to keep them contained while we have guests. That said, they sometimes overflow into areas of the house/hostel and yard.

Julie's farm house is really rustic with very large rooms and unique decor. We had trouble getting in touch with Julie as we had come from the States and did not have wifi. My daughters and I were housed in the room that sleeps 6 and we found the double bed alright while the bunk beds were not very comfortable. The linens are pretty old and need to be replaced. Julie invited us to feel free to use the kitchen, living room, and dining room. Her farm animals are adorable and Beans is really a sweet and gentle dog. The decor is unique and beautiful but the house is very old.

This was a great place for our family of 5 (3 children 9,6,3) to stay on our way from Boston to PEI and would be fun to spend a couple days! Julie, Sean and Beans were friendly and welcoming! I loved the "enjoy the moment" feel of this 180 year old working organic farm house and could have spent hours listening to their record collection or reading books. The kids loved feeding the goats and playing with Beans (the dog). Walking distance down to the river and great food, chatting with the locals etc. Rustic feel but tidy and well kept. We had everything we needed. Great value for money and would have me coming back! Thank you Julie and Sean!

Peaceful stay in an authentic farm house. The kids loved feeding the goats and checking out the bunnies.

This was our first stay in Gagetown and our first stay in a hostel. It was a charming town and an even more charming farmhouse. My husband and I and both of our girls enjoyed interacting with the chickens, rabbits, goats and ducks. It was great entertainment for the kids after a long day in the car. The accommodations were well appointed with everything we needed and clear guidelines for our stay.

Julie was very welcoming (as was beans). We were comfortable and cozy. We loved seeing the baby goats in the morning and enjoyed talking with Julie over tea.

The hosts were warm and charming as was the home. A bit rustic for many but great for us!! The lack of air conditioning in a heat wave and no fans made for a long night. A bit difficult booking the right room... we ended up in a room with a queen and 2 sets of bunkbeds when a single room for the two of us would have been fine and cheaper. Overall a lovely place on a farm as advertized!

I stayed here with my wife, two kids (9- and 6-year-old), and father, and we all had a fantastic time. Sean and Julie are great hosts, and the farm is beautiful. We had greens from their garden, local raw milk cheese, and fresh eggs that my son helped collect. We relaxed and chatted with Sean, Julie and the other guests by the fire outdoors or in their sitting room. My daughter caught bullfrogs with their dog, Beans, and spent time with the bunnies, chickens, and goats. My wife and I watched the meteor shower with a clear stargazing view at night. We can't wait to come back for another visit.

My husband Sean and I strive to live a sustainable, balanced life! We are small scale organic farmers (Sean fulltime, and myself part-time), and I am also a natural medicine practitioner in Fredericton during the week.

We love to travel when time and budget permit, and enjoy hosting the rest of the year. We operate our home as a traveler's hostel all year-round. This allows us to pay forward the safe and interesting travel opportunities that others have offered us in the past, while allowing the world to come to us when we can't go to the world.
