There's a waiting list of friends who want our apartment if we ever move out - but why would we? It's got:

• Charm to spare: hardwood floors, vaulted ceilings, original moldings and fireplaces and that greatest Big Apple rarity - SPACE! There's a big living/dining room, bright kitchen, and beautiful bathroom. Plus, one of us a professional performer so there's even a mirrored studio for yoga! (It can also be used to host additional members of your party on a case by case basis - we've got an air mattress.) Every detail in the place has been lovingly considered. It feels open and fresh in the warm months and homey and inviting in the cold ones, providing a tranquil contrast to the lively streets below.

This listing is for our big bright bedroom, which is actually two rooms because it has a cozy study/studio attached to it. It's only available when we're out of town. Please note that this is a two-bedroom apartment, and it is possible that we might be hosting another guest in the smaller guest bedroom during your stay. The kitchen, bathroom and spacious living area and yoga studio are shared spaces. We consider carefully if each guest seems a good fit for our home, and we only rent to those guests we ourselves would be happy to share the space with.

• Location: Just a four minute-walk from the G, ten from the A/C line, and 1-2 blocks from major bus lines, so it's very easy to get around.
---- 6mn subway to Williamsburg (+4mn walk)
---- 13mn subway to TriBeCa (+10mn walk)
---- 15mn taxi to Lower East Side (unless it's rush hour)
---- 4mn subway to famous Brooklyn Flea Market and beautiful Ft. Greene area with gorgeous parks and fantastic bar/restaurant scene (+4mn walk)

There are great coffee shops and restaurants (and a little grocer's with the most surprisingly delicious vegan baked goods) popping up all around us and we're convinced that our neighbors (a mix of African-American, Caribbean, and, well, hipster) are the friendliest in the entire city. Bed-Stuy is probably the most sought after developing neighborhood in the city right now - it had a rough-and-tumble reputation in the days when rappers Jay-Z and Notorious B.I.G. were growing up here, but it's come a long way and we've always felt safe and welcome.

• Our hosting style: We love this city and want you to as well! We take your well-being seriously. We'll give you as much privacy or guidance as you need to be happy and comfortable.

Some other goods: fast internet connection, ample street parking, amazing homemade Jamaican food downstairs, two super sweet cats (sometimes!). We don't have a TV, but we've got DVDs that you're welcome to enjoy. (we use our laptops for the latter.)

Please let us know if you've got any questions!

We love that this place has its original decor and atmosphere, and we hope you will love it too. However if you're usually more comfortable somewhere more modern and polished, it might not be for you.

We're laid-back and considerate and hope you are too. We've got to be fanatically clean in the kitchen to ward off six-legged friends, so please keep that in mind.

The space was BEAUTIFUL! Charming, everything advertised and so much more. The location was great--just a 10 min walk to the subway. We had the best time ever.

This was such a beautiful space! I stayed here for two months for a low residency graduate summer program and loved every minute of it. The larger room is a great size for a couple and comes with a small study room. The smaller room (where other guests stayed) is off the main hallway and is much better suited for a single person. If you love original old buildings, this is the place for you! The paint colors, the bedding, all of the details were so lovely. It does get HOT in the summer as the one window AC unit is on the opposite side of the unit. That was the biggest con, otherwise place was tidy, neighborhood felt safe and had a few nice bars and restaurants you can walk to. Two blocks to the G train, transfer to the L to get into Manhattan in less than 30 minutes. Kestrel was wonderful to work with, very accommodating and friendly. Wish I lived here all the time! :)

Everything has been amazing. I have no words to describe how kind was Jacqui and what a wonderful host she was ( we never got to meet, she answered fast any request by e-mail or sms) and how great our experience has been. We spend there a mont and a half with my husband while apartment hunting in NY and I have to say, that anything we saw compared to this apartment looked small and ugly. If we had had the chance to rent this apartment for the whole year, we would have done so. It is spacious. well decorated, beautiful, spacious. It really feels like home. The niegbourhood is great. Lots of nice people, very familiar. On your second day people is all ready saying hello and good morning by the street. Not gentrified ( but it looks that it will be soon). Nice shop just on the corner for basic shopping and a couple of supermarkets two blocks further. The street can be a bit noisy though ( well, while we were there the street was being rebuilt so I guess our experience was a bit different than the usual) but it feels that it can noisy anyway mainly because of the cars. However, for us that was not an inconvenient at all. We slept like babies every (URL HIDDEN) thing you need to do if you stay at Jacqui's place: there is this small place down Nostrand on the AC gate direction: Doubles and Bakes. Please go there and it what they have there. One of the things of being in this was to get to know the west indian community, they are a really open an welcoming community. In short: if you go to NY and your intention is to stay in Brooklyn, go to Jacqui's apartment. I truly recommend

First and foremost, Jacqui is excellent at communication. She responded promptly to our initial request and to any questions. She has clearly put thought and effort into being a good host. The apartment is a 4th floor walk up in a nice neighborhood. My family and I walked pretty much anywhere at any time with no concern. The apartment is fresh and clean, very tastefully and sparsely decorated - just right. There is lots of space and great light, especially for what is laid out as a one bedroom. The only issue I had was the bed - it is very soft, like a queen sized down pillow - probably the softest bed I have ever slept on. I have back issues and the soft bed did me no favors. My wife, on the other hand, had no problem with the bed. Jacqui provided an air mattress and linens as a second bed for our daughter. The kitchen and bathroom are fine - water pressure is very low - that could be due to the utility work going on in the area of it could be just an old building in Brooklyn. We enjoyed the Civil Service Coffee Bar (formerly the Tiny Cup) and Bedford Hill Coffee Bar for morning coffee. The scones at the latter were especially good. All in all, this was a great experience for us. Jacqui is a thoughtful and pleasant host and the overall value is outstanding.

This was my first experience with Airbnb and I could not have been in better hands. Though I never met Jacqui, she was so warm and generous and extremely thourough in making sure that I had acces to all the information for a smooth and pleasant stay. The master bedroom/office was an amazing amount of space and the apartment as a whole captures the feeling of a "home away from home." The neighborhood is friendly, and access to all immediate needs is a breeze (the laundry mat is about two steps away in one direction and in the other there is a wonderful little convenience store). I highly reccomend both this great space and Jacqui as a helpful and gracious host.

While I didn't have the chance to meet Jacqui in person (as she was out of town), I was able to get a sense of her warm personality through her charming apartment. Jacqui had a friend play host in her absence - who was polite but not very personable making it a bit awkward at times. However, prior to my trip Jacqui had provided thorough instructions which were extremely helpful. She also checked in to make sure me and my guests had settled in well. While the neighborhood wasn't the 'hippest' part of BK, it was convenient and safe and offered more of a real-NYC experience. Two things I recommend in the neighborhood: Cinnamon Girl coffee shop 2 blocks away is AMAZING and download the HAIL cab app as finding a cab seemed difficult at times. Overall, my sister and I had a good experience. Tidy, but not the cleanest. Great for the price and attentive host. I'd stay here again and recommend it to my friends.

This was my favorite place to ever stay. It was very peaceful and pleasant to come home to during our NY stay. I loved every little detail and felt very comfortable. I didn't meet Jacqui but she was very helpful to make sure we got settled in okay. We will be coming back in the near future!
