Hillcrest DC is an oasis in the city. A middle-class neighborhood, off of Pennsylvania Avenue. Walk half a mile to catch the bus straight downtown. The nearest metro is Potomac Avenue. Relax watching TV in the family room, or have coffee/tea with the birds in the morning. You will have access to a full-sized bed, closet, and a bathroom to yourself. There is a carport and no street parking restrictions for your car. Feel free to use the kitchen. If you're looking for calm and peace, look no more.
The guest room is crisp, clean, tranquil with true bed and breakfast style. There is ample space for you to de-stress and enjoy a perfect weekend/vacation in DC. The house is a classic, brick house with a touch of mid-century modern. There are three bedrooms upstairs (master suite, and two guest bedrooms). As a guest, you will have access to the full bathroom upstairs. The family room will have a working fireplace in mid-December 2017.
As a guest, you will have access to the family room for lounging and watching tv, the dining room (table seats 4), kitchen, and laundry room. Water and red or white wine provided upon arrival and refreshed when needed.
There is a large patio/great space for entertaining before it gets too cold. Just let your guests know it's bring your own chair since the patio is not furnished. Your bedroom is clean, simple, and fresh. Perfect for basic living.
You can access these spaces as you see fit. I have a coffee/tea cabinet, and an ample supply of flavored milk (french vanilla), so please help yourself.
Since the guest room does not have a tv, you are more than welcome to use the family room and if you have guests you can use either the family room or your room for entertaining.
You will receive your own set of keys and the remote for the house alarm. The keys open the front doors (first level; not carport) of the house. It will be easier for you to enter at the door on the main level.
I prefer a mix of giving you space and answering any questions you have about the neighborhood. I can be reached by phone or email. Text is best. I live in one room of the house.
There is the neighborhood Safeway supermarket with a starbucks about 2 miles away. There is a shopping center there, where you can find more fast food options (pizza hut, subway, fried chicken), banks, and two clothing stores.
I live .5 miles from the nearest cleaners, 711, CVS, subway restaurant, and Wells Fargo. They are all by the bus stop at the top of the hill.
Please clean up after yourself. You will have access to the dining, kitchen, and family room (in addition to bathroom and bedroom upstairs).
It is best to use the door on the main level to come in and out (it's closest to the house alarm).
You can definitely have guests over. I can imagine you reconnecting with friends in town. 4-person limit. However, guests cannot stay overnight.
I'm a DC professional who loves her city. I'm all about peace and tranquility, which is why I love living in my own green, quiet space minutes from the city center. Originally from Brooklyn, NY, from Jamaican descent. Love meeting people from different cultures and parts of the country to expand my horizons. There is beauty and something new to learn each and every day.
