Thank you for the review and glad you found the cottage charming. Let me take a few moments to address some of your concerns and if you would like a partial refund, we can discuss that.
The suite attached to the house, which was unoccupied during your stay, is crucial for the winter months. As you know we got record-breaking snow pack levels last winter. So Airbnb guests have a host on site to help them when the snow levels exceed what's manageable for out of town guests. This was not brought to your attention since there was no one there during your stay.
As for the heat, wow, I know! It's been record breaking all over Tahoe this summer. Very few homes in Tahoe have AC since this has never really been an issue before. Guests from the Bay area are anxious for a bit of sun in the summer but surprised by the heat, especially because it's very dry here. Most locals spend more time at the beautiful lake to cool off and are saddened by the climate change affecting things.
You visited Tahoe on one of the busiest weekends of the year, with the addition of Burning Man traffic coming through town. My house, even though on quiet streets, is centrally located for convenience but when it's busy like a holiday weekend, there will be unavoidable noise. Perhaps a cabin in the woods is a better option on these busy weekends.
Like many Airbnb hosts, this is my primary residence, so there will be a few locked closets. This is where I keep valuables that wouldn't be useful for guest. The guest bathroom and laundry are available for all my guests, but the closet behind was locked to protect my valuables.
Lastly, I'm sorry that you found the floor dirty. It was cleaned before you arrived. When the windows are open, more dirt comes in, but I am surprised to hear you felt they were dirty. I will be sure to address this in the future.
If you would like other recommendations of Airbnb's in the area that might serve your needs better, do let me know. Like all locals in Tahoe, we want you to have a good experience here.
