During periods when the owning family has no use for this manor's main building we would like to invite guest to enjoy this beautiful main building with 600 m2 of total space. You get your own private and lockable bedroom and all guests are most invited to enjoy all the public rooms of building.
There has been inhabitants on and around Metsänkylä estate from as early as 1500s. The history of Metsänkylä Manor itself goes to 1800s. Most of its history the manor used to act as the agricultural center of the greater Karlberg estate which was later more known as Aulanko. They were later separated into own independent estates. Especially Aulanko became famous as immensely rich captain Hugo Standertskjöld in 1883 bought the Karlberg manor and started the decades lasting establishment of Aulanko park with involving gardens and parklands. In 1935 our grand parents, Lempi and Eino Paasivaara, bought Metsänkylä Manor and soon moved from Helsinki to make it their permanent home for the rest of their lives.
The latest inhabitants were their oldest daughter and her husband, Eila and Kalle Kuurma. In 2000 a thunderstorm caused a fire in the main building and it was thoroughly renovated after it. During 2000s the childrens families have settled in the estates numerous buildings. They have renovated many of the buildings under new businesses, among them a small Pancake Cafe Leivintupa (open on Sundays all thru the year).
We are sure you will find Metsänkylä Manor and its surroundings itself a very pleasant and relaxing place to enjoy. Take a walk outside enjoying the surroundings of old houses, alpacas and donkeys. During Sundays there is plenty of people wandering around other buildings when Metsänkylän Navetta, cafe etc. are open for public. Ask for bikes or take a refreshing walk to Aulanko and you will find a whole variety of recreation and sports activities all thru the year; spa, massage, golf, tennis, horse riding, nature park with hiking trails and cafes and adventure park just to mention some of them. During summer you may also want to catch a water bus and explore the landscapes of Vanaja lake. For shopping and culture there is always Hämeenlinna just 6 km away... During winter time Aulanko offers plenty of beautiful cross country ski trails. In Hämeenlinna there is also possibility for skiing for the days with no natural snow - trails are made with snow machines. For downhill skiing Sappee and Messilä are both about 45 minutes away.
