Chris McCleary emailed me while he stayed at our home and was very upset there was no air conditioning downstairs and no Wifi upstairs. I apologized that the advertising did not make that clear and it has been rectified. What he neglected to tell me in his email, was that Mother Nature had decided to throw up an abundance of sargassum all along the peninsula. This seaweed apparently had a horrible smell (it is since gone). After reading his email I could not figure why he did not open all the windows and doors to let the sea breeze in. He was angry because he was hot. Understandably. If I sat inside with all the doors and windows closed, in 90 degree heat and felt I could not retreat to the AC in the bedroom without losing the WIFI, I would be angry too. May I suggest the problem was not the lack of Wifi upstairs, or the lack of air conditioning downstairs, but the smell of seaweed driving them indoors? We have ordered a range extender from the states to get WIFI to be more reliable in all parts of the upstairs. We arranged for the owner of the company that made the windows to come from Guatemala last week to repair those blinds not presently working . They do open in the master, but Chris had trouble with the remote. We have never had guests complain about the blinds previously. Lastly, I did not take kindly to being threatened by Chris that he was going to provide a bad review and he wanted compensation. I hope readers will feel comfortable to ask any questions pertaining to the house, as we have had many happy families stay with us, and continue to come back.

I had written a good review on Russ and his family based on the fact I had answered his concerns during his stay and his comment was he understood and thanks. I invited him to meet with me which he did not. Now he writes this review where he distorts and skews the facts considerably. I will respond to his story below and I now know my good review on his family was misplaced. The family did call at 9AM to ask what time they could check in and was certainly not told an hour or two. That is a blatant lie. The previous guests had only checked out that morning around 8:30AM and it typically takes 4 hours to clean the house. They were told it should be ready between 12 and 1pm which it was. They did not complain when they were told this. Again another blatant lie that, "the lady" as he says, was disrespectful and argumentative. It was Russ who was disrespectful and argumentative as he knew he was wrong about what time he could check in but would not admit it. As far as the pool, whatever issues they might have had, it did not seem to keep them from enjoying the pool. We had someone check the water level while the family was in the pool and they again said "no worries". The hot tub is not listed as an amenity since it is not functional so there should be no expectation of it's use. As I told Russ, the beach was cleaned but there has been a massive influx of seaweed which inundated the beach constantly so there is no way to keep it completely clean at all times. We rake the beach every day when the house is occupied, not only because he complained. Again, he said he understood but apparently was not truthful based on this review. The internet was functional and it was only the TV that was not working at the time. Russ called us 3 hours after he checked in to advise of this and we had someone there within an hour, not 3 as he mistakenly states, and the only issue was the easily accessible power strip was turned off which most guests would at least check first. As far as the excursions he mentioned, Russ asked me to set up a private snorkel with his family. I told him he would have to rent a boat and captain or go with a dive shop. He was adamant he wanted a private trip but after I gave him cost and requested confirmation, he neglected to answer so could not have expected any trip to be set up for him. Nor did he mention he needed someone to snorkel with him as I would have said he then would need to schedule a trip with a dive shop which he refused to do initially. There are no vagrants here which is a disrespectful term but there may be people selling souvenirs but they do not pester. I do not appreciate the fact that Russ is misrepresenting what happened based on his lack of communication issues created by himself. I would say Russ is not a responsible guests and certainly not a good traveler. I would certainly not rent to them again.
