30minutes from the motorway and 15minutes from the centre of Dumfries, it is small and cosy, with everything you need for a comfy stay.
The nearby inn in Auldgirth, serves good pub food, or you can prepare your own meals in the well thought out cottage kitchen, using great local ingredients from nearby Thornhill's excellent range of local shops. Excellent fishing on the river Nith and local lochs, “Seven Stanes” mountain bike trails, Solway coast beaches and the area's rich, fascinating history and culture - home to Scotland's national bard, Robbie Burns - mean this place has something for everyone! Day trips to Belfast are an option, Glasgow Edinburgh and Carlisle are all within a couple of hour's drive.
Everything! The place is yours for the duration of your stay.
I spend most of my time in the far north of Scotland so it is unlikely that we would meet. We have a key safe on the outside of the cottage and will let you know the combination just before your visit. I have family nearby and a good relationship with local tradesmen if there is an emergency.
We have renovated the interior of the property but the garden and driveway are not quite up to scratch yet. This is reflected in the low price.
