Its easy to fall in love with NORTH's Rustic Hideout, especially when you're waking up in this historic cottage restored and inspired by Japanese philosophy of Wabi Sabi. This hideout is custom-designed to fire young imaginations. The best part is, this magical escape invites you to unwind and recharge.
“NORTH” lies off the beaten track; a land where anything is possible and life is easy and fun. It is a quiet place in the tall deodar pine woods, surrounded by snow capped mountains, somewhere we feel free and experience living in splendid nature.
Vivid colours of nature, music full of folk stories of Himachal and village tales of myths and legends; all these dramatic components makes NORTH a place packed with history, arts and culture contributing in their own unique way to a rich variety of experiences that define us.
NORTH is an artist residency, off beat experiential traditional stay and a "Centre for Himalayan arts & crafts" in our property which encompasses acres of pristine natural wilderness in Naggar, Himachal Pradesh.
We are a community of artists, eco conscious people & creative professionals; trying to make a positive impact on local community, organic farmers, local craftspeople & our natural environment.
Our guests become a part of our community, which shares same inspiration yet driven by diverse backgrounds, experiences skills and passion; and maintain our place which has a relationship with the Nature where we can enjoy each other’s company and are reliant on each other as we practice new skills together; trying your hands on organic farming, intimate gardening, natural building and have a bit of a off grid mountain living experience.
NORTH, takes its name as an abstract reference for a place in the mountains, the mighty Himalayas ; which provides an elevated experience, higher consciousness and creative environment in an indigenous Himalayan lifestyle; respecting and learning from Nature.
We welcome long-time travellers / lovers of nature / a spiritual-minded people / trekking-lovers / backpackers / artists / musicians and eco-enthusiast to share our Himalayan experience with us. We are most happy with environmentally thinking guests, who treat our home with love and care.
Please be sure you've read through the full description and ask any necessary questions to make sure you know what you are getting into! We want our guests to be happy - please be sure you are up for something "different"! This experience is not like any other, we are not some fancy hotel, and we are truly an adventurous experience, rustic and authentic right in the middle of Himalayan village life.
Patience is required for Himachal’s slow lifestyle but a driving motivation and self reliance is even more crucial. Moreover, the visitors and guests live, work, practice natural building and have fun with the North community and are expected to be respectful of the our community members including helpers, staff, locals and friends, to be a mindful housemate, and to be socially engaged.
You get one of our cozy rooms with mud plastered walls, organic linens and antique furnishings add as much to the comfort of the setting as they do to its charm.
You don't just get this room but have access to the entire heritage cottage; kitchen, a big traditional style shared living room, wooden balconies and surrounding property; apple orchards, zen/landscaped gardens, other traditional kathkuni earthhouses and wild forest.

Our guests are hosted in an experience designed to connect to the roots of our culture and traditions.
We strives to provide a culturally unique, healthy, eco-conscious and inspirational experience for our visitors, guests and artist residents.
Chargeables - Laundry service / Bottled water / Cleaning during stay.
We are happy to offer pickup and drop off (charged according to distance and mode of transportation) as a courtesy to encourage car-free travellers. Please let us know ahead of time that you'll be coming without your own transportation, and we will make sure that either we or affordable cabs/taxiare there to meet you when your arrive.
We also help our guests to provide rental bikes/cars at affordable prices.
For those wishing to try their hands on Himachali arts and crafts, NORTH offers customized drop-in workshops for visiting individuals and groups. At the end of each workshop, guests will have a beautiful product (or many!) to take home with them, as well as a certificate recognizing their study at NORTH.

Book workshops at least one day in advance. All the proceeds go directly to our mission of preserving Himachali culture, arts and crafts and provide benefits for the Norths community - craftspeople, instructors involved.

- • When submitting an inquiry, please tell us a little about yourself and your interest in NORTH project. Also let us know that you have read the full description and understand the house rules and feel comfortable staying with us. • No shoes inside the house. • Guest are expected to clean up the dishes on their own or pay extra Rs 200 for cleaning dishes per day charges. Once checked in guests are supposed to take care of room and kitchen. If you are using anything in kitchen kindly refill the product and clean the kitchen so that other guests don't have any inconvenience. • Please keep in mind that our place is meant as a quiet retreat for few people only. If you have ANYTHING else in mind, you must let us know ahead of time and get appropriate permission before booking. Photo shoots, events, ceremonies etc. are subject to additional fees, and are rarely approved. • If you are interested in using NORTH for a photo shoot, you must give us explicit descriptions of your concept before booking as well as your location budget.
