Hopewell is an multi-award winning lodge, famous for its incredible location, fantastic facilities and genuine New Zealand hospitality. We can accommodate up to 20 people in a number of cottages. Hopewell is the perfect retreat for relaxing and chilling out, lazing around in the hammocks or soaking in the hot tub. Beautiful gardens, great coastline to explore and collect local shellfish. You can enjoy walking, kayaking, fishing, swimming and so much more. There is even a wonderful golf course down the road. There is water taxi access to the Queen Charlotte Track if you would like to do a days walk, or get picked up from our jetty and join the famous Pelorus Mail Boat run into the outer Sounds. Enjoy chatting to other travelers and kiwis that often come to stay or there is plenty of space if you just want some down time. Rooms are all well appointed with brand new beds and crisp linen, the kitchen is a chefs dream with excellent ovens, fridges, pots and pans, sharp knives and great crockery etc. And if you fancy a night off cooking we do offer gourmet pizzas, homemade bread and espresso coffees. All you need to bring is food and a smile.
You have access to our whole grounds, we have a jetty, out door spa pool, BBQ area, common kitchen/lounge/dining areas, hammocks, beaches and walks. The lounge has a log fire and lots of books, magazines and board games. No TV here, we encourage folks to talk to each other! Check out our other listings on Airbnb as we also have a fully self-contained cottage and ensuite rooms available.
We have rental equipment available, mountain bikes are $15 for unlimited during your stay, kayaks (lifejackets and dry bags provided) are $20 for unlimited use and Standup Paddle Boards are $10 per hour. We have excellent high speed internet but out here if doesn't come cheap as we get it via Mobile Cell Phone Tower so we do charge $3 per GB.
We live on site in our own house so we are always here to help you between the hours of 8am and 8pm.
Bring your own food, there are no shops out here. We have plenty of fridge/freezer and cupboard space for food storage. Last supermarkets are in Picton, Blenheim or Nelson and there is a small one in Havelock. And remember to fill up with fuel behead you head out into the Sounds.
We do have some sandflies so remember to bring your insect repellent.
It is a winding drive and one done best in day light or take a shortcut with the water taxis.

Mike and I have lived in the Marlborough Sounds for over 20 years. We love the lifestyle and our environment and have raised our four daughters here. I enjoy mountain biking, kayaking, fishing and gardening and Mike loves flying, his sheep and chickens and his guitar, plus he is a real projects man. We are both foodies and cooking is one of our passions, especially with the wonderful fresh seafood and produce around us.
We consider ourselves to be friendly, down to earth and always happy to help.
