A beautiful home with a very welcoming host, keen to make you feel very welcome.
This incredible traditional home is located high up a long and winding good quality road which is frequented by serious cyclists working hard to reach the top and beyond, there are two Col's to achieve. Whether you are are a serious cyclist or not the area has some amazing climbs and scenery. Indeed the views from this B&B are beautiful and impressive.
The house is a fantastic large Alpine wooden home spanning three floors. Our host gave us a very thorough tour of her lovely home which is rather like what in the UK might be described as a 'boutique hotel' however here it is actual just someone's home dressed in a way that enchants guests and gives the homeowner joy. From outside the window boxes are brimming with colourful flowers, it is an impressive sight.
We stayed in the ground floor guest area with its own bathroom and compact lounge. The bedroom was cosy and due to its position cool which, with daytime air temperature around 30c, was very welcomed!
Breakfast is served either in a comfortable indoor dining room with long benches and super views or outside on the sunny terrace. Our host even treated us to a guitar and song solo.
Just 2km up the mountain is a great restaurant La Barrett which serves traditional local foods including enormous salads, French steak and fondue which we enjoyed one night. A great place to mix with the locals (and some tourists) away from the hustle and bustle of Annecy.
Your host is eager to please, full of local information and keen to ensure you make the most of your time and the local highlights. She was always smiling and chatty in both English and French and eager to draw maps and help plan daily itineraries.
Without directions you would never find or even see this gem however when your booking has been confirmed details are supplied and it is actually really easy to locate.
Good, easy private parking a bonus too.
