Our house is a 200+ year old traditional Cornish cottage that we have extended over the years.
Its a family home, we're around a lot, and we have four dogs, so if they are not your cup of tea or if you have an allergy this will not suit you I'm afraid. We are not crazy dog people (they know their place) but they are rescue dogs and although will settle with new people very quickly they can be a bit shouty at first. They will absolutely not have access to your accommodation unless you want them to.
We are well placed for exploring West Cornwall and there are plenty of attractions, walks, gardens and beaches nearby.
You will have your own private accommodation consisting of a large double bedroom - there is also a camp-bed available for a child to stay, or you are also welcome to bring bedding for your young family to 'nest' in the bedroom (under 12s please, we have our own 'teenfest' here already) - there is plenty of room. No cot available, but if you bring one, you are of course welcome to use it.
There is a private toilet/shower room with towels and shower gel/shampoo supplies and a big comfortable sitting room with TV, dvd/blu-ray player (plus a selection of movies), iPod dock, wi-fi (mostly - this is Cornwall), games, jigsaws and a ton of books.
There are french doors which open to the garden, which will never win any prizes at Chelsea Flower Show but provides some outside space if you are not out adventuring somewhere. It also serves as a practical space for drying wetsuits etc.
There is a solid fuel stove in the sitting room which is great in the winter, or to take the chill off a late summer evening.
You are of course welcome to use the family kitchen for cooking meals, keeping food in the fridge, etc.
A basic croissants-and-toast, cereal, porridge etc. type breakfast is provided. Please let us know if you have any special dietary needs, we will happily provide gluten/dairy free alternatives.
This is our family home, and although usually calm, can at times be a busy, bustling household. You will however be able to escape from us into your own self-contained end of the house.
We will be more than happy to have you sit with us if you wish, and we will always be on hand with any local knowledge you need.
The main thing to emphasise is that you should be dog-savvy to stay with us - the beastlies will not have access to your accommodation unless you want them to, but it will be hard to avoid any contact.
They are friendly but nervous to begin with.
Mother of five (don't worry, they're not all here anymore!), part-time artist, part-time postie living in Cornwall with my splendid husband Rob.
We have a busy household, but now have room to share wonderful West Cornwall with occasional guests.
