This 3 acre homestead features a stocked trout stream, Permaculture landscape, extensive flower and pollinator gardens, private dog park/children's play area, Rabbit Village, and a nature/sculpture trail. Over 300 FIVE STAR reviews and a Superhost since 2016! My guests tell me that Whispering Winds is an EXPERIENCE and that words just can't do it justice, but the most common words used in the reviews are "Magical", "Enchanting", "Whimsical". "Good Vibes". The Alice in Wonderland themed Rabbit Village is everyone's favorite place for a critter experience and is my answer to free range while trying to keep the bunnies, chickens, ducks and bottle baby goats safe from predators. The fireflies here are spectacular! The trout fishing is excellent with just a bobber and worms for bait. Wildlife abounds! This year we've had fawns in the pasture morning and night! A baby raccoon came wandering in, so young it wasn't frightened of humans! Expect to wake up to bird song and go to sleep to the frogs and crickets, the hoots of owls and on some nights a coyote serenade. The comfort of rain on a tin roof while taking a nap. The safety and nostalgia of being in a small rural town (Spring Valley is very "Mayberry-like") where residents recognize one another and ask you where you are from is engagingly homey. :-)

Woods Edge has the BEST view of the stars, it's own private entrance into Firefly Forest (also a mature Permaculture Food Forest), it is the most private of my 3 cottages, and the tiny house has a bank of windows facing into the woods where you can often see Whitetail Deer ambling down the trail beside the creek.

This is CAMPING MADE EASY! LEAVE NO TRACE CAMPING - I Refund your $20 Cleaning Fee, just leave it like you found it and finish your stay with a review! I'm 67 and can't do it all. Required Covid cleansing is plenty for me to do between guests.
This is an ideal camp for an individual wanting some get away time, couple's retreat, to come and relax and just enjoy nature without being too far from amenities or invest a lot in camping equipment. In fact, all you need to bring is yourself, your clothes, a sleeping bag/bedding, your food/beverages and any disposables (paper plates, aluminum foil, charcoal, lighter, etc.) you may require.

Your private playhouse IS Glamping! Heat, air conditioning, TV with local channels to watch the weather, mini fridge, microwave, a stocked camp pantry of pots and pans, eating essentials, huge camp kitchen with quartz countertops, propane grill with a filled tank, charcoal grill (you provide the charcoal), grilling utensils, table, chairs and bar area, camp chairs and fire pit, a FLUSHING toilet just steps away (private "bag it" toilet in camp) and all just 100' from a stocked trout stream! WiFi is available at the main house and on the back deck outside the main house, but not at the cottage. This 14'x7' dry (no running water) micro tiny home features a comfy full bed.

Woods Edge has its own private large fenced yard that will hold any but the most determined dog. Friendly well mannered dogs welcome! Private large chain link kennel with dog house and bowls for when you leave your dog here alone. Please do NOT use the cottage as a kennel leaving your dog in a strange place with lots of anxiety to work out.

Located in back of the horse pasture and bordered by Norse Outpost and my private dog/child park, it has its own private entrance onto the Nature Trail. It is on the edge of the woods which I am developing into a natural Permaculture food forest. The nature/sculpture trail through Firefly Forest has taken an enchanting turn featuring fairy gardens, wood spirits and other fun surprises.

The trout are biting! Catch and release unless you want to eat a fresh trout at camp. If everyone caught their limit in trout who visited here, we would have no trout in the creek. Barbless hooks please to make this a sporting venture and not hurt the fish. Must have a Minnesota Fishing License with a Trout Stamp to fish.

Airbnb has a glitch we can't seem to resolve with the dogs. Just don't enter your dog and it will be fine to book. Just let me know you are bringing a furbaby. :-D

Everything is subject to UPGRADES, moving furniture around, etc. My flowers peak in July and August! We are subject to storms, flooding and high winds. Please stay off the Nature Trail when high winds are present as trees and branches can hit the earth. Do NOT come here if you have allergies!

The $20 cleaning fee RETURNED TO YOU IF YOU LEAVE THE CAMP CLEAN and end your stay with a review!!! You are responsible for leaving the space as you found it - clean - and bringing your trash up to the black trash can by the house. If I have to do your dishes, bring up your trash, wipe down the fridge, or bring up any biological waste I charge $30 an hour with a one hour minimum that I will request from you through Airbnb.

Woods Edge Camp is my private camp where I go when I need serenity, when I need harmony, when I need peace of mind – a healing sanctuary.
The Garden Cottage is just across the dog park from Woods Edge in the garden. :-) Small yard, fenced for big dogs only, private kennel, backs up to the Rabbit Village which is under construction.
Remodeled Vintage Camper is a 25' fifth wheel that you can pull your car beside.
Norse Outpost is me playing around with my Viking heritage. It has an ax and knife throwing target - axes & knives available to rent. It opens directly into the woodland and is currently open for tent campers. Potential for a "Live like a Viking" tent in 2022!
White Dove Haven may also have a camper to rent in 2022!
The Balcony Suite Retreat is the top half of the Victorian Cottage that graces the entrance to Whispering Winds and is available by the week or month for longer stays.
Outback Quarters is the Nature-inspired bonus room in the attached garage in the main house. It too is for short term stays of a week or longer.

I've also added, working on, a "Rabbit Village" to keep my other animals safe from the resident Mama Red Fox, raccoons, opossums, hawks, owls, etc. Check out the pictures! :-D

Ecotourism is respectful, mindful, low impact tourism.
Respect for the natural environment you find yourself enveloped in. Respect for the host of your experience. Respect for the local population whether human or animal or plant life.
Mindful tourism takes the time to slow down and truly absorb the experience of being where you are at without changing anything – leave no trace you were here.
Low impact tourism means that you are causing no damage to the environment you are in, you are cleaning up after yourself and "leaving no trace" you were ever here, and your presence is benefiting the local community by patronizing local establishments as opposed to large corporate businesses.

Spring Valley is a very quiet, friendly, SAFE, Minnesota small town. It is centrally located between Rochester, Austin and Bluff Country's premiere tourist town of Lanesboro. It is also very close to Forestville/Mystery Cave State Park and Lake Louise State Park. Great hunting, fishing, fossil hunting, bicycling, motorcycling, snowmobiling, hiking, horseback riding and more! An outdoor paradise!
This is a Private Camp, NOT a campground. It is totally PRIVATE. No dealing with other people, their taste in music, loud parties, family squabbles or something that belongs to you walking off. It is a private retreat for just you and your family and friends. :-)

Your Hostess
I am Beverly, the Steward of this lovely homestead. Whispering Winds is what I call the healing zephyrs that emanate from this bit of Mother Nature. It is more than my home, it is my haven in this world as I grow old. My background is teaching, sustainable ag, and tourism. So, I can point you to unique experiences all over Bluff Country and the reason why my heart goes to ECOTOURISM.

This land is in search of an additional, or new, steward. Permaculture landscape with a Food Forest that is mostly organic. Mature landscape with garden rooms. Established perennial flower beds. Nature trail along the creek. Stocked trout stream on premises. Surrounded on three sides by woods. Adjacent to Spring Valley Creek Park and 8 mile RT paved walking/biking trail. Working homestead, greenhouses, popup shopping with retail space, established Superhost Airbnb since 2016. Whispering Winds is featured on the outdoor adventure shows Minnesota Bound (Behind the Scenes with Laura Schara podcast too) and Due North for Fossil Hunting. Lots of opportunities to expand or work 5 months and enjoy 7 months off every year. Upstairs 2 room en suite with balcony available. Three surveyed acres with six lots. I would just like to go back to being the gardener here. :-D

I have become a Farm Stay Consultant in self-defense of the guests who come here in the expectation of picking my brain on how to create a successful farm stay. $100 for one hour of my time on farm stays that will save you thousands of dollars, mistakes and frustration, and help you to become a Superhost within 6 months and love what you are doing! It helps if I know ahead of time and you send me some pics of your place and a list of questions we can chat about when you get here. :-D

The animals here are my companions and this is their home. Please treat them with care and dignity. Nearly all are special needs, and that is one reason why I share my little slice of heaven with you, is to take care of them. All the creatures here have stories and memories to make with you.
