Nestled high up on the side of a gentle valley that slopes down to a brisk tributary, the River Dathee that feeds the much visited Lake Dathee a few kilometres downstream. Outside you may take walks through the many chemins bisecting the land and beyond. St Sever forest with its popular tourist centre is on the opposite side of the valley. The property is 1 km from the local village Marie,Tabac, Church and community sports field and tennis court. Adjacent to the farmhouse are ancient outbuildings formerly housing a boulangerie.
Inside the farmhouse the wide granite walls make the interior cool in the summer and warm in the winter. The lounge space includes a large open granite fireplace and long refectory table with church pew seating.
In the bathroom is a separate shower and bath and toilet. There is a separate second WC toilet.
This self - catering accommodation within the farmhouse of the La Vauverdiere hamlet and the 20 acres of country that it sits in are free for you to roam.
Outside in the front garden there is a BBQ and garden furniture table and seating for the frequent outside meals in the summer months.
The farmhouse is subdivided into two separate self contained units. Also self contained it is occasionally occupied by the host and/or other visiting guest(s).
Normally, you are welcomed by the hosts(s) or the hosts(s) representative. The hosts are contactable 24/7 in any case.
For days out you can easily drive to the awe inspiring war graves and memorials on the north coast. In the west you have the Atlantic coast towns of Granville (Christian Dior Museum) and beaches at Granville (40 mins) and further west Mont St Michel and StMalo (1hour 30mins).
Bayeaux with its majestic town and historical tapestry is another must see.
Locally you have the Golf Club, Sailing facilities and Bird Reserve at Lake Dathee. The medieval town of Villedieu Les Poeles and the superb waterfalls at Mortain 30-40 mins away.
We are happy to accommodate guest pets that can be housed in the barn adjoining the main farmhouse. Guests must provide their pet's bedding/travel carrier and pet food.
All animals must be insured, have valid passport documentation and be in good health.
