My family and I loved the apartment. It was spotlessly clean, spacious, and airy. The wifi was good and strong (a necessity, because 2 of us had online work). The beds and couch were comfortable, and I think the bedding & towels were new or almost new. There was plenty of hot water for showers and the water pressure was good. The building is older and charming - we especially loved the balconies and the Catalan ceilings with exposed beams - but has been beautifully updated with a new kitchen, bathroom, air-conditioning, and electrical wiring. Outlets are plentiful and conveniently placed. You will find lots & lots of wardrobe space, too. Because the apartment is on the 2nd floor (what we Americans call the 3rd floor), it is above what little street noise exists on this quiet street. The stairs are a bit narrow (part of the charm of an older building) but well-lit.
So we would have been happy with the apartment in any case. But Carlos made our stay special. He met us in person to show us around the apartment; pulled out a map and showed how to walk to every place on our "must see" list; recommended additional places to go; directed us to a very good restaurant nearby; and left ice cream in the freezer for our daughter. On our last day, there were several hours between check-out time and our train. Carlos needed to get "our" apartment ready for another reservation, but let us leave our luggage locked in another of his airbnb listings (also nice!) and called a cab for us when it was time for us to go to the station. He is a kind, gracious, and thoughtful host.
