One of three privately owned chalets on the top terrace of the Mt Hutt Lodge complex with river and mountain views from every room. Our chalet has open plan living with one bedroom plus ensuite at ground level and two bedrooms and separate shower and toilet upstairs.
Take a bushwalk, pony-trek, heli-ski. Fish the Rakaia, kayak it or take a jet boat, go horse riding or hunting. Make no mistake, when the clouds burn red in a Canterbury Arch sunset and a Nor-Wester is building, you really feel you are on the edge of the wilderness. Yet it is only an hour to Christchurch International, ten minutes to the access road to the ski fields, to great golfing and to the delightful town of Methven where you can get everything you need. Our place is cosy with under-floor heating, and a heat pump and there is a good restaurant and friendly bar where you can meet all sorts of interesting people. In the summer the pool is open, the trampoline is a magnet for visiting youngsters and the Rakaia Walkway is on your doorstep, one of many enchanting local walks where you can enjoy the song of the bellbirds and the dancing fantails.
Extensive lawns, a swimming pool, a trampoline, a class restaurant and a friendly bar
We now live in Methven to cut down on the driving, but still like to drop into the Lodge bar on a Friday for a pint. Our friend Jane looks after ensuring your time in the lodge is carefree.
