Don't come to Texas unless you stay on a Texas Horse Ranch. 550 acres of the most beautiful public park for walking, jogging or just enjoying the Texas countryside. Full bedroom, kitchen and just 12 minutes from downtown, 17 minutes from the airport, 1 1/2 miles to every store and restaurant imaginable while staying in the midst of a serene, peaceful setting.
Literally on Austin City Limits, we are just outside the city for privacy and right next to the city for convenience. Less than 2 miles to SouthPark Meadows, with 100+ stores, restaurants, theater and just about anything else that you can think of. Hop on I-35 for a short trip to Austin central, easy trip to the airport and even closer to the Circuit of the Americas (Formula One) race track. If you are bringing your own cars, they are safe on the ranch where nobody can bother them.
The Montana has its own patio porch, plenty of space to park your car, and you are welcome to visit us in what we call the Coffee Shop in the mornings for just breathing the fresh air and learn the local color. Please don't pet or feed the horses without permission first, ok? You have full access to the adjacent 550 acre park, with miles of hiking trails, through our Elfin Forest, over cactus ridge and down to the creek that can be accessed from different locations.
We live here on the ranch, so we are available most daylight hours. But if you want to be left alone, that is good with us as well.
We do have very friendly, totally non-aggressive dogs, but they usually stay away from the guests, just wanted to make note for those who like dogs. There are occasionally puppies to socialize.
- We do have a liability form to sign since this is a horse ranch with the attendant dangers that it involves. We prefer no smoking at all, but if you must, please stay outside, but on the porch, so we don't start any fires.
Our love of the land has come from our years of caring for animals and the environment. As a geneticist, I have worked with rare and endangered breeds and species for four decades and am proud of the work that we have been able to do. Until recently, our ranch was a private breeding ranch, but nearly three years ago, a creek near us flooded and washed away the boarding stables on the far side of the river and there was no place for the surviving horses to go, so we opened it up to let other horse owners bring their horses to our unscathed ranch. We now board more than 40 horses.
Now we reach a new milestone in the use of our land. Friends and family have thrilled to come and stay with us to experience nature, in the middle of the city. It is time to expand to let others from around the world, live a life that is envied by many.
We have traveled and stayed in some of the most unusual places in the world. Austin has been our home base since 1970, when it was just a small hidden gem, but even as it has grown, it has maintained its own touch of weird. Not so long ago, our ranch was way out of town, but the city has grown up all around us. Fortunately, we have kept a little keyhole of paradise secluded from the chaos.
We are excited to share our gem with you.
