My partner Rick and I live in a large Heritage home in Center Town, across from the Museum of Nature. We work full-time with the Government, with retirement in sight! Rick (Madore) is also an established artist with many of his original works hanging in our home. Please see his website under rickmadore dot ca. We purchased our home in the Fall of 2016 and are restoring brick by brick between our play time in the great outdoors of Ottawa, Gatineau Hills and the St Lawrence River Area to our South.
Our home is inviting with a large established yard, front veranda and centered within walking distance to all the Capital has to offer including easy access to/off of Hwy 417. Restaurants & night life are only two blocks away on Elgin Street and Bank Street, along with grocery markets, liquor store, the Canal, Parks and Parliament Hill.
Our beautiful Heritage home comes complete with the original wooden ceiling beams and trim details, a gorgeous original, hand-painted ceramic chandelier, very large single pane windows with original glass and stained glass windows in the spectacular original staircase in the hall.
We rent a private 1 bedroom with en suite on the main level. This room shares a common hall but is independent from other units. It is important to note that we live on the same level as the room we rent out and there are three other apartments in the house which we also rent to long-term, quiet and respectful tenants. The house is located on O'Connor street which is a two lane, one-way street leading to the 417. It is busiest during end of day traffic. We have had one review which mentioned the noise from traffic however, we would not consider this an overly noisy downtown street.
Unfortunately, parking is not available on the property but there is a paid public lot just across the street and around the corner. Free street parking is available after 5:30 during the week and on weekends and holidays.
