Gorgeous, sunny two bedroom located in the heart of Fairview, just a mile and a half from downtown. Relax in our recently renovated mid-century modern inspired home. Well stocked with cooking utensils, coffee beans, and a washer + dryer.
- No smoking anywhere on the property: All smokers must go on the sidewalk.
-No fish processing: We have found this is too smelly for the house or property.
-Please keep all little feet and big feet out of the gardens: We spend a lot of time with our greenery and it is upsetting when little ones rip up the plants. We would hate to have to say no kids!
-Leave no trace: Be a real Alaskan, and leave no trace! By that we mean please don't leave any dishes in the sink, furniture moved around, or large messes.
-Please keep shoes off inside the house! An Alaskan house rule as we frequently get wet and muddy (or snowy!) and we will provide a door mat for you by the front door to leave your shoes.
-In general we say "no pets", but we are willing to consider an animal on a case by case basis.
-Absolutely no parties, and no guests over without prior permission. We have many people visiting family- we have no problem with friends and family dropping by when they give us a head's up. :)
If you throw a party on the property, it is an immediate minimum $250 cleaning fee, with additional fees for breakage or any excessive mess.
-Quiet hours are 10 pm to 8 am.
Thank you for respecting this!

My husband Rob and I have spent many years living and traveling all around the world. We have met some amazing people in our travels, so it was only natural to open our home, too! Now we have the chance to show everyone how amazing Alaska is, and why we love it so much.
Rob and I have been together for over ten years, living the majority of it in Alaska, and we run two businesses together. These businesses, a media company specializing in website design and copywriting, and Soapberry Travel, an Airbnb, + Turo co-hosting + cleaning company, allow us the freedom for amazing adventures and last minute road trips.
We are originally East Coast kids; I'm a New Englander from New Hampshire, and Rob hails from North Carolina. We met when we were stationed together in Louisiana volunteering in the Red Cross after Hurricane Katrina hit. I remember calling my mom a couple of days after I met him- "You met a guy? In a disaster relief zone??!" I can still hear her incredulous voice. What a way to know the guy you're dating is a good guy! He was down there in the trenches with me, and the fact that we met over a mutual passion for helping other people set us on the path we're on today.
My husband and I share a strong love of travel, new experiences, and meeting wonderful people all around the world. We're working on our second languages; we are minimally conversant in Spanish and Italian, and know some phrases in German, Japanese, and Russian- but mostly we are excellent with hand gestures and miming to help get a point across. We are also fluent in translation apps. ;)
