A newly refurbished flat in Battersea. Amazing views of London, steps from Clapham Junction station.
Monika's place was quite nice and my family enjoyed staying there. There is nice pool in the complex and although the The Neighborhood seemed a little dodgy on the first day, but we got used to it, and the inside of her flat was very clean and attractive and we felt very safe in there, but the rest of the building was a lot more "dated, and bare bones". We live in the country, so city living was not a familiar experience. Monika herself was out of town, so we did a self-check in that was difficult because of some miscommunication about the actual address. We ended up walking very far out of our way, with all of our bags, so make sure that you get clear directions and it would be better to meet someone there at the property. Even when we had the actual address, a cab driver couldn't find it. We had to ask a couple of people who lived in the actual gated complex. It is right next to the tube station as well as 2-5 minutes walk to shopping and restaurants. There is also a mini-cab company right next door that made our trip to Heathrow, much cheaper and more convenient than it could have been. I did not like how the price that was advertised, changed when you proceeded with the actual booking. I don't know if that was a problem with Airbnb, because this was our first time. The price shown in our search was over 100 pounds less per day than what we ended up paying. That being said, it was very last minute and I was glad to have found something safe and decent for my family. The unit had very new appliances and towels, I suggested that she install a handrail next to the tub, because it is quite a bit taller than I was used to, and a handle would have been nice. To be honest, I feel like It was a good experience for our first time and I would definitely stay there again.
To clarify, the price for the actual dates was higher than the base price because it was one of the busiest summer weekends in London: the Wimbledon finals. What Frances doesn't mention is that she couldn't find accommodation within her budget for those dates, and in the end accepted a very generous special offer that I sent to make her family's stay in London more affordable. Also, European bathtubs are taller than US tubs; the tub in my flat is standard height.
Well appointed, clean, secure and safe flat in a good location next to Clapham Junction Station so very well connected - particularly for Central London and if coming from Gatwick Airport. Ideal for 2 people as there is a very comfy main bed. Second sofa bed which is (understandably) less comfy but perfectly ok for children and so does the job for a family of 4. Vicky was very quick to respond to all my emails prior to booking and during our stay.
We really enjoyed our stay at Monika's place. Its right next to the train station but we had a car and central London is just 20 minutes drive. The apartment had everything we needed, mainly kitchen items, and there are so many shops close by, like restaurants and supermarkets. So really a very convenient place.

I work in technology and love travelling. I'm currently on an assignment in my company's New York office, sharing my time between London and Manhattan. I'm listing my London home. I put a lot of heart into refurbishing it a couple of years ago and love returning there!
