Thank you for your stay with us, Wendelina.
I’m confused as to your opinion, however. Your “great in value” sure seems appropriate. For instance, I just looked at Groupon, where the DISCOUNTED price for kayak rentals alone are $23 - $67.50. For $24 per night, you not only received the ability to use our kayaks, but our canoes and paddle boat, too, as often as you wanted, from dawn to dusk. (The Groupon places have restricted days and hours, and none allow you out on the water at sunrise, the most enchanting time. We provide that opportunity every day of the year.) You also received the ability to use our fire pits, our grill area, our activities room, unlimited Wi-fi, hot showers, the most incredible views of the lake, spectacular night skies, an abundance of bird life, fishing at the only lake in the nation to be on Bassmaster’s Top Ten list every year, our lakeside theater … PLUS LODGING! I agree with you - if that’s not “great in value,” nothing is!
I might note that there is a lovely place for lodging less than sixty yards down the street. It is across the road from the lake and they don’t have free kayaks, etc. What they do have is a rate on the order of $200 per night! In other words, for what they charge for a one-day stay, you could be enjoying our lakeside property for a week! As regards the road, I apologize if there were “large trucks” that drove by. As you surely realize, that road (which has only a single lane in each direction) is exceedingly quiet, with an average of well under one vehicle per minute passing by. With Highway 20 (on the other side of the hill behind us) running parallel to our small road, traffic is minimal, and no trucks come by except those rare ones with local business to conduct. For instance (and I’m thinking it is what likely led to your comment), the trucks that empty our dumpsters three times a week do make a fair amount of noise. I’m not sure there is anything we – or any other resort – can do about that.
I am very sorry that the jet skis were unavailable. As you may know, a day or two before you arrived a pair of renters violated the terms of their rental contracts and crashed the units (which are barely a year old). Let me assure you that you are not alone in ruing that occurrence. (I’m still sick over what happened.) All I can say is that I am doing all I can to have the jet skis repaired (or replaced) as soon as possible.
We are renovating the park to the tune of nearly half a million dollars, with a brand new ADA-compliant bathroom, upgrades of the existing bathrooms, revamping the office, laundry room, activities room, and making a host of other improvements. We are working hard to get that work completed as quickly as we can, and are continuously cleaning the affected areas to minimize the impact on our guests. Most people have had no issues. In fact, we have received many compliments on how unobtrusive have been the many projects in terms of not interfering with our guests’ ability to enjoy our park. That said, we will continue to do what we can to finish the projects soon and ensure that not a single guest finds any of the work problematic.
Thank you again for staying with us, and we hope to have you back soon when the jet skis are repaired, all the renovations are completed, and “you get what you pay for” is a phrase that no one would ever even think about using after staying with us.
