This 1880 fisherman's dog friendly cottage has many original features such as wooden flooring, Suffolk doors/locks, pantry and 'cottage' stairs - steep but there is a handrail. It also has central heating/Wifi. There are great views of the working lighthouse from both upstairs and downstairs of the cottage which is minutes away from the sea and individual shops. Southwold also has art galleries, fish and chips, bakeries & cafes plus a pier and a working harbour.
The cottage has a comfortable lounge and kitchen diner. Upstairs there is a 'small double' bed with a recently new mattress, shower room and upstairs sitting room with great views of the working lighthouse and a small court yard. Southwold has its own brewery and many pubs and restaurants serving great food and that local brew! There is a opportunity for free parking directly outside the cottage but which cannot be guaranteed.
There is a small enclosed garden area.
The guests will be able to make contact with the local host who will be a telephone call away from the property if required.
The cottage is just a short walk away from the stunning beach and promenade with its many famous and colourful beach huts, award winning pier and nature walks - plus Adnams brewery to be explored. There is so much to do in Southwold and its surrounding areas - which makes this a wonderful destination at any time of the year. There are many individual shops in town that sell crafts, jewellery (including the famous Amber shop), retro furniture and clothes, antiques and local art. In the winter many of the pubs have log fires and seasonal dishes. There is also a 60 seat cinema called the Electric Palace in town, a summer theatre programme and a 9 hole/18 different tees golf course that is 130 years old, five minutes from the town and part of the 130 acres common land that surrounds the town.
- This is a quiet and peaceful neighbourhood and community. The guests need to respect this.
The cottage cannot accommodate more than two guests. No extra guests please. There will be a separate list of requirements for dog owners in the cottage - and to be read on arrival.
