Nestled at the end of an avenue of Live Oaks, our lowcountry guesthouse offers a peaceful retreat with all of the modern conveniences. Our property is home to beautiful birds, turkey & deer. We are centrally located w/ easy access downtown in 15 mins, 15 mins from Folly, Kiawah, Seabrook & Wadmalaw & 15 minutes to the airport. Dinner nearby at Johns Island restaurants, Wild Olive/Fat Hen, or book a charter with your host, Sonny Boy Charters, & cook up your own fresh catch of the day!
Life is a little slower and quiet here. We have created a home away from home for our family and closest friends and extend it now to you. Gas lanterns, ceiling fans and rocking chairs on the porch, fresh percale sheets & usually fresh eggs from our chickens depending on the time of year. Wild turkeys roost in the trees and deer come usually twice a day. Owls sound off about 5 p.m. An old syrup kettle on a bed of crushed oyster shell under the oaks makes for the best fire and s'mores. Guests can enjoy a hammock placed behind the cottage in the perfect spot for a Sunday afternoon nap. If you like to cook - we have pretty much everything you need including a captain you can charter for fresh seafood. If not, let us know how we can help you and there is plenty close by to choose from. Should the weather not cooperate during your stay, relax and enjoy the sound of rain on a tin roof.
Visitors should note we have three steps to the entrance of the cottage and the second bedroom is located on the second floor. Each bedroom has its own private full bath and washer/dryer is available from the Master bedroom. Our kitchen affords granite countertops, is equipped with stainless steel appliances to include a large refrigerator, microwave, stove and dishwasher. We have a Keurig coffee maker with the assorted accoutrements needed for a fresh brewed cup in the morning as well as herbal teas and all the cookware necessary to make a gourmet meal.
Our wraparound porch is perfect for morning coffee and bird watching with four rocking chairs and a dining table.
The upstairs loft includes a perfectly placed handmade desk from local reclaimed wood looking out over the field. Business class wifi is available throughout and cable TV in the great room.
We like to welcome our guests upon arrival. Our main house is next to the cottage on the property should you need anything during your stay. Otherwise the entirety of the cottage is yours to relax in.
While we are new to Airbnb, we are not new to hosting our family and friends. We have a special place and are looking forward to sharing it. If there is something you need or questions we can answer to make you feel more at home and enjoy your stay, please let us know
We are easygoing kind of hosts, but here are a few additional things we have to include so each guest is as happy as the next. Thank you for honoring these house rules:
-Events and parties are not permitted on the property. Visitors are allowed at the discretion of the hosts and must be pre-approved at the time of booking. Message hosts for specific requests.
- Quiet time is from 10 p.m. - 7 a.m. We love the tranquility of our property. Evening quiet time is important to us as the main house where we reside is located near to the cottage and Captain Brad is an early riser for clients waiting to slay the fish at the dock.
-No smoking - even outside please. $50 penalty charge.
-Please no shoes in the house.
-Please do not leave outside flood lights on.
-Please make sure you check out by 10 a.m. so we can polish the cottage in time for our next guest. $50/per hour penalty charge.
Lovers of the simple life, we love all things outdoors. Captain Brad runs Sonny Boy Charters out of Bohicket Marina. If your travels bring you this way, schedule a fishing charter and bring home your own fresh catch of the day for dinner or a beautiful sunset cruise.
