To All Future Guests: Hello! Don't be scared! We are kind and rational people who love hosting guests who care about the values of Airbnb!! If you are thinking of staying with us then please read the other 100+ positive 5 star reviews from previous respectful guests :) If you want to find out how we got this nasty negative review then please read on **** Our house rules were clearly communicated to Yannes and accepted by Yannes on at least 2 occasions. Yannes (and Michelle) were asked to leave early not because of breaches of house rules but due to the obnoxious behaviour of their friend Natalie. The three of them had failed to observe basic house rules on multiple occasions. Noise after 12pm at night included banging doors, and playing music on the phone in the bathroom that was loud enough to be heard over the exhaust fan. This noise woke us both up and led us to message the group at 12:35am (2nd night) and ask for consideration. It doesn't matter what the noise is, if you are loud enough to wake your sleeping hosts in the middle of the night then you have been inconsiderate. One of the guests (Natalie) slept on the living room sofa in the common area 2 times (night 1 and night 3), despite being provided a bed with sheets. The first time she was told that this was not allowed, and we were assured by Yannes that it would not happen again. When Natalie was again found sleeping on the sofa on the third night we were rightfully angry, especially when the guest lied about this breach. We asked Yannes (the Airbnb account holder and person responsible) to discuss the compliance issue. Instead Natalie confronted and challenged Amanda, questioned our house rules and asked for proof that she had done something wrong. It seemed that Natalie believed that she could act in any way she liked in our home. Natalie continued to argue about our house rules, pointing at Amanda and telling Amanda how it is. Our strict but common sense house rules are confirmed with every guest prior to booking acceptance. Hundreds of guests have not had a problem with our rules. We ask every guest to read our profile and if they do this they will see our house rules clearly. Yannes received a reminder of our house rules including noise restrictions when she changed her booking from a 2 person booking to a booking for 3 people. To reiterate: The behaviour of Natalie and not the house rule breaches led to the group being kicked out. Natalie was condescending, argumentative and disrespectful, and we do not want this type of person in our home. Once they were told to leave by Airbnb, Natalie continued her arrogant and nasty behaviour until she exited the front gate. She would not allow Amanda to help her with her giant suitcase, which tipped over and subsequently damaged our front gate. Natalie even tried to film her departure on her mobile phone, no doubt aiming to document her misadventures on social media. We expect that they will recall this story in future as the time that they were ‘unfairly’ kicked out of the Airbnb. They demonstrated an inability to cohabitate, lack of personal responsibility, and disrespect toward us and our property. Natalie did not seem to understand the Airbnb values, and we didn't want her in our house. Despite the late night noise, Yannes and Michelle are probably ok guests but they were complicit on this occasion.
