We had a wonderful time of ten days staying in the historical mansion of L'isola near Fermignano! Eugenia and her husband Augusto were our hosts and were very welcoming and helpful in any question or need we might have had.
The two rooms are part of the historic ambience of the building. Our kids have reiterated many times that it was wonderful to live - as they phrased it - "in a museum". The furniture, the paintings, the old fireplace-kitchen, the little chappel made for a historic athmosphere that inspires one minds to travel back in the past.
However, the presence has some advantages as well. The kitchen that was dedicated for our private use was well equipped and had a modern electric
stove, an espresso machione, Toaster, a little oven and most important: a large fridge with a well sized ice-box integrated.
The park surrounding the mansion and the pool make the place ideal for recreation allowing for rest and peacefulness as much as for fun and action, of which our kids (aged 10 and 12) preferred the later ;) !
The further surrounding of the location - just a short foot walk distance to the historic city of Fermignano and a short 15 minutes drive to Urbino with the famous Palazzo Ducale - is perfect. Even the sea at Fano, Pesaro, or at the picturesque beaches of Sirolo is by car fairly near in reach, although we preferred the small rivers and streams in the surrounding mountains such as the Furlo Gorge.
A place to visit are the caves of Frasassi.
An absolute personal highlight were the joined meals with Eugenia and her husband Augusto. Your Tagliatelle con Ragu have been most delicious!!!
Full of gratitude we look back to the wonderful time we had in the Villa L'isola, and we can recommend this place wholeheartedly!
