The Sombra Chalet is just two blocks from the Lincoln National Forest and is an ideal Sportsmen's and nature lover's responsible pet-friendly retreat. The Sombra Chalet attracts an abundance of local wildlife including deer, elk, the occasional black bear, a variety of indigenous birds and seasonal hummingbirds. This is a wonderful comfortable retreat for hunters, outdoor enthusiasts, road cyclists, mountain biking and general mountain getaways.

All areas of the home not locked
If your coming up to hunt , fish, hike, golf or ride your bike I am eager to show you around. If your looking for solitude, no worries!
The thermostat is in the hall, there is refrigerated AC for your convenience. The pellet stove is off for the season. The dog door is available if you will be bringing your dog(s). The mud room where the doggy door is located can be segregated from the rest of the house if you need to secure your dogs. Additionally, if any damage is done by your pet you are responsible for fixing the damage. If there are dog stains on the carpet due to your stay you’ll be responsible to clean the carpet. If you have very small dogs be aware there are hawks in the neighborhood so watch them closely. There is a fire extinguisher in the back bedroom for your safety.
Walmart is just down the street from the house and so is the Ruidoso Downs Racetrack and Casino. If you want to take a little ride into Lincoln County than you can visit the Billy the Kid Museum where you can see the location where he shot the sheriff and see Smokey the Bear’s grave. There are many great restaurants in Ruidoso, my favs are Cornerstone Bakery, 1712 Sudderth Dr, Ruidoso, NM 88345; Sacred Grounds is also a great lunch place, 2825 Sudderth Dr, Ste B, Ruidoso, NM 88345 and K’Bobs is just down the road from the house. The grill is ready to go at the house.
The hot tub is locked at 105 degrees but if that’s too hot, leave the lid open for about an hour and it will cool off a bit. Be sure to bring your suits. No regular clothing allowed in the hot tub. Please shower off before entering the hot tub and be VERY careful when leaving the tub traveling through the mud room, it is very slippery at that point. If you can use some sandals or flip flop type shower shoes to ensure stability. There are extra blankets in the closet. Feel free to use whatever you want in the cabinets such as oils, spices, etc. The water at the tap is filtered (RO) and is drink/cooking water. One block behind the house is USFS and available for hiking. Additionally: (URL HIDDEN) will show multiple hiking trails.
