Red Dirt has been newly renovated, keeping its classic character intact.
It is light filled, airy and very private, designed and furnished for gracious and easy family life.
You'll approach the house down a long driveway, coming first to the back of the house, which opens onto the yard. Go around front to the brick-red door, take the key from the lockbox - and you're home.
You'll find a red binder on the dining table with details about the house and favorite destinations.
& Thank You.
The home is laid out as a SPLIT LEVEL ZIG ZAG with four levels connected by just a few stairs between each. We have found this design works beautifully for a family. It combines privacy with proximity.
MAIN FLOOR: The kitchen, living room and one bathroom are on the main floor.
LOWER FLOOR: A queen bedroom is a few steps down, with sliders to an outside patio.
SECOND FLOOR: A queen bedroom, a bedroom with pair of twins and the second bath is on the second floor, a few steps above the main.
UPPER FLOOR: The library with computer is on the top floor, another few steps above the second.
The whole house and grounds are yours.
There are decks off the main bedroom and living room, a patio off the lower floor bedroom and a yard to romp or relax in.
We want you to have a wonderful stay at Red Dirt. Everything possible has been done to insure a safe, well functioning and organized environment for your enjoyment and I am always available to phone, text or email for any questions, comments or needs. Additionally, we have a good friend who lives locally and is at your service should you want an immediate hand.
She will check with you shortly after you check in to make sure you are comfortable.
All contacts plus a list of emergency services can be found in the RED NOTEBOOK which will be on the dining table when you arrive.
GENERAL DETAILS ABOUT HOUSE AND AREA:
the RED DIRT RED BOOK will be on the dining table when you arrive. In it you'll find details about the house and lists of our favorite spots in the area.
That said, here are a couple of things that will be of immediate interest on your arrival:
The cabinets and main floor closets are marked to help you find everything you need.
Beach chairs and umbrella are in one of the lower bedroom closets.
Cooler is in utility closet - the first hall closet as you enter front door.
CLIMATE CONTROL DETAILS:
CENTRAL AIR: On humid days, the central air is most effective. The control is on the living room at end of the entrance hall.
SKYLIGHTS: On non-humid days, especially when there is a little breeze, you may find it more pleasant to let fresh air flow through the house by opening all the skylights and a few windows. SKYLIGHT REMOTE is on top of the Red Book when you arrive. Scroll through to select window 1, 2 or 3, or all the way past 10 to arrive at ALL. Skylights are screened and can be left open without worry, as they will close themselves in case of rain.
GENERAL: Air conditioning used together with open skylights doesn't work well; it only impairs effectiveness of the central air.
TOP FLOOR: The library is air conditioned but needs extra help cooling at times. When that is the case, open a window or two in the library, prop open the attic door, opposite library door on top landing and turn on attic fan: top switch to the left of door. Once the air is flushed, the airconditioning will be fine and you can switch off the fan and close the windows. HEAT: Same control as for cooling.
MASTER SWITCH: Is located at bottom of stairs near lower bedroom. It must be ON for system to work. There should be a piece of tape over it holding it in ON position.

I am what's known as a production designer.
I figure out and oversee the sets and locations for feature films. I've been married for 16 years to Tony, also a filmmaker, and we have a 12-year old son, Leo. We also have a dog, a bearded dragon and four birds, who stay at home in the city.
I love my work and travel a lot doing it. But I am a born nester and would always rather be at home.
It is important to me that where I live is beautiful, comfortable and functional. A home should make people feel relaxed and free. It should be a place with space to work and play, relax and dream.
I have tried to bring these qualities to Red Dirt.
When I am there I feel happy and peaceful.
It would make me very glad to know I'd given you that feeling too. Welcome.
