Sunny, private compound with two lovely, detached 2bd/1br houses, set in a lush garden, in Guerneville's residential Vacation Beach neighborhood. Five minute walk down a quiet alley to the river, 10 minute drive into town. Great for two vacationing families with kids.
Both houses have the same basic components, but the main house is bigger, with a formal dining room that seats ten, and a better-equipped kitchen, plus laundry.
Each house has one bedroom with a queen or double bed, and one bedroom with a set of bunkbeds. In the main (orange) house, the bunkbeds are a little shorter than standard twin size. The lower bunk is fine for a small-to-medium size adult, but you might be more comfortable in the gray pull-out sofa in the living room.
The bunkbeds in the cottage are full size, but the layout of the cottage is railroad-style, meaning you have to pass through the main bedroom to get to the second bedroom.
Between the houses is a patio with gas grill, fire-pit and chairs/table for outdoor dining. There's plenty of room for kids to run around, explore, and an unheated "tea house" in the back, with its own lounge space.
Vacation Beach is a sunny, quiet neighborhood about ten minutes from Guerneville's main drag. There’s a small, not-crowded local beach a four-minute walk away, plus access to another part of the river about six minutes in the other direction. In the summer, we're just upstream from a seasonal dam, which makes our section of the river particularly nice for swimming. If you’ve got kids, here’s a small playground a few blocks from the house, and the street has very little traffic - good for scooting and biking and neighborhood walks.
Armstrong Woods and Austin Creek Park are 15 minutes away. Ten minutes out of town is Monte Rio and the terrific Rio Theater. Beyond that is Duncan’s Mills then the ocean.
We use these houses regularly for our own family vacations, so the furnishings are personal and eclectic. This is not a matchy (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN)-style place (beware: your pillowcases may not match your bedsheets!). But because we're there often, everything is comfortable and in good condition and the kitchen is fully stocked with all the tools you need to make and serve a great meal.
We have a one-person kayak, a paddleboard and various floaties available. We just ask that you lock them up inside the house or basement when you aren't using them.
Drop us a note with any questions! We're happy to tell you more about the house and the neighborhood.
