We had an amazing week at Gaston's "chalet", as he refers to it. :) Both Gaston and his wife are very down-to-earth, friendly, and genuine in their concern with us having a wonderful stay. Gaston was always available leading up to our trip for any questions we sent him in advance. Gaston met us at a Tim Horton's to follow him to the cottage where him and his wife showed us around, how to use everything including the hot tub and where the best place was to get into the water for swimming, which is at the end of the property. The cottage was very clean and so much more charming than what the photos show. It's modern yet cozy, and the kitchen had everything, including an espresso machine, so we didn't even have to miss our morning lattes, as we have a similar machine at home! The wrap-around deck is large and very sturdy and had a brand new sectional wicker set with comfortable cushions to relax on. We took the canoe out onto the lake, which they have foam seats for as well that made it more comfortable to sit in. They also made sure we had enough life jackets, as that's something we had asked about. We did not try the paddle boat but maybe next time! We enjoyed swimming in the lake, the water is very clean, and you can get very far out before it reaches neck-deep. We were glad Gaston had mentioned to bring water shoes mainly because the bottom is muddy/rocky, but it's fine if you have water shoes. We went to the Canadian History Museum one day, and the Canadian War Museum another day, they are both within 45 minutes away, and we really enjoyed them. There is a big fire pit on the property which we enjoyed to roast marshmallows and make s'mores, and Gaston made sure to chop wood for us to make sure we had enough! We enjoyed the hot tub many times, even during a thunderstorm, the gazebo is screened in, which keeps most of the bugs out. Our little Shih-Poo It's clear that this family cares very much for their property here, and wants to make sure anyone who stays here has a wonderful time. Highly recommended!
