Japanese printed folding screens create a semi-private space in a shared bedroom for you to sleep in funky comfort! Situated on a friendly block in the 7th ward (lots of kids and old folks) and walking distance to Frenchman Street and the Quarter. Got all the essentials, and a shared lounge room in the front- plus Porch! Plus by staying here you'll be supporting a local musician! check out my band-"Buku Broux Electric Life"!

The space is unique so its worth clarifying. The room is only private due to japanese folding screens- and there are four such spaces in one room. With the screens folded closed you have privacy from sight, but not sound. So basically, semi private room at a shared room price. Couples are welcome but warning- screened in beds are not soundproofed from each other so if any other guests are in the building at the time sex is verboten! Sorry lovers. The space has its own lamp and a fan, and the room and lounge area have separate ac units. The bathroom and closet is shared and so is the front room so although we keep it clean, with up to 5 people in the house we don't want anyone to book who expects things to be spotless. There's a closet for storage plus room under the bed. The front lounge has a smart tv, water cooler, fridge, microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker, griddle, and lots of food you can take and pay for on an honour basis (throw a dollar in the box please :) I consider these amenities to qualify as a semi-kitchen lol- but be warned there's no set up for heavy duty cooking. It's also got a desk for getting some work done and a few instruments for spontaneous music making.

One of the best features of the listing.... Keyless Locks! Just book and I'll message you the code to get in. Nothing to lose or have to remember! Theres a washer and dryer in my section of the house that may be accessible by special request at special times. I also may have a bike available if you leave a deposit.

I'm a musician and lord knows it keeps me busy... come see me at a gig with my band or playing in jackson square. Besides that I'll be in the back half of the house (separated by a locked door) or come kick it out on the front porch!

The place is exactly as described in Jonah's review, there's 4 beds in the one room and two more out back, be prepared to share with a lot of people, with a small space to yourself. But personally I found it quirky and different, and if you just need a place to crash and check out New Orleans, especially Frenchman Street and the French Quarter, you couldn't find a better location! Both are literally walking distance, and Jonah provides a lot of good information of places to see and where to go. If you're also lucky enough to be sharing with like minded travellers, you may end up having a good group of people to hang with which luckily enough happened to me. I loved my experience, if I go back to New Orleans then this will be the place I stay!

Jonah's place made our stay in New Orleans a great experience. The room is divided into four different areas so be prepared for is a narrow little corridor between the screens to the bathroom. It felt surprisingly private and quiet and we slept really well. The bathroom is clean and like the rest of the house feels homely. In the front room there is a water cooler and a box of snacks, as well as a fridge and microwave - it is a generous communal space where we met and talked to other guests and exchanged tips on New Orleans. The neighbourhood is a bit edgy but very conveniently close to walking to the French Quarter, and gives you a truly immersive experience, as you are surrounded by locals and artists. Make sure you eat at the nearby diner called Melba's. Amazing affordable breakfast, lunch and traditional Louisiana dinner - their gumbo is real good!

This is a cool spot. This was my first stay with airbnb and I was a little nervous about the fact that it was a shared space. I've never stayed in a hostel or anything like that when I've traveled so I had reservations but I needed something affordable and the price in combination with the location (walking distance to Frenchman and Bourbon Streets) was hard to pass up. The space with the beds is a little tight but the description lays that out plainly. Once you get the hang of navigating it however, it's very easy to move through and the set up is pretty genius when you look at it. I was also nervous about the 1 bathroom but that was maybe the most pleasant surprise of all. Anytime I needed to use the bathroom, shower, do my hair, etc. I was always able to do my thing with no hassle or wait. The bathroom was also clean and inviting and there were plenty of towels and such. Also everyone that I met who was staying with me was extremely cool. I think this place just attracts a certain type of person so the vibe was on point. People ranged from quiet to talkative but everyone was pleasant. Jonah and Aujanae were great hosts, very hospitable and happy to share information and suggestions. The area was great. I walked most of the time and it's right on a main trolley line. Most nights I was walking back at like 3 am by myself and I made it there safely and quietly every time. I'm by no means recommending that you do that, especially if you're uncomfortable with the thought, but I feel pretty confident in saying you could do that safely in this area. I spent most of the day out so I can't say what the experience would be to spend most of your time inside but if you're looking for a chill and cozy place to rest after a day of exploring and/or a night of partying in the the beautiful city of New Orleans, this is it. This isn't for everybody but if you think it may be for you go for it, you won't be disappointed.

Jonah is wonderful! He provides tons of toiletries, snacks, and bedside items in case you forget anything (which I definitely did). Also, he is a wonderful source of knowledge if you need to know good places to eat, drink and explore! :)

Jonah is a fun guy! The room may be smaller than you think because there are folding panels everywhere sectioning off the room and their zig zag shape takes up a lot of space. Remember if you have a snorer that there are white noise machines that can help you out. The pull chain that turned the light off on the fan wasn't working so we had to go without the fan which was a bit of a bummer, but Jonah keeps the house cold so try opening up the door between the hallway and the living room to get the air conditioning flowing. He has lots of snacks and things out if you need to eat something and a mini fridge. A good spot all in all.
