Welcome to your private studio with its own entrance, part of a brand new home built in 2015. This newly renovated space was designed to be a peaceful, restorative, comfortable and safe retreat type experience. We’re just several lots away from Alberta Street and very short walking distance to The Alberta Rose Theatre, Chaba Thai, Kennedy School, Salt & Straw, Pine Street Biscuits, and much, much more! You have access to so much without needing to get into a car, yet you can retreat from the hustle & bustle into the extremely quiet and restful home your studio apartment is located in so you experience a good night’s rest or grab a restorative nap.
I’ve consciously designed this space to support relaxation, creativity, and healing. As a certified professional coach who specializes in wellbeing and high performance, I understand how necessary it is to take time to relax, step away from the demands of your daily life, explore new places, meet new people, and re-source. As a writer, I appreciate having a retreat like space to work uninterrupted surrounded by positive energy. You can turn your Portland visit into a transformational experience one of my half, full, or two day intensive coaching experiences that include an assessment that will help you learn to reduce your stress and tap into high performance living.
Once inside, you’ll find a clean, modern industrial look created by painted cement floors, gray granite counters, and metallic accents with area rugs to make it cozy. In keeping it Portland’ish, the design incorporates several refurbished items including the kitchen hardware, the sliding door separating the kitchen and living area, artwork, and two stunning art deco lights in the full bath.
The well-equipped kitchenette includes a full size fridge with freezer, microwave, large toaster oven, double sink with disposal, soap dispenser, Kheurig coffee/tea maker with complimentary coffee/tea K-cups. It is stocked with the essentials including bowls, plates, glasses, coffee cups, wine/bottle opener, eating utensils, knives, a cutting board. You also have use of a large stainless steel propane gas barbecue with side burner on the back porch, BBQ cooking utensils, pots, and glassware for the microwave.
The comfortable living area comes with a wall mounted television and access to Netflix, Hulu, and Showtime. Chill out on the ample sized two-seater leather couch or curl up with your favorite book in the reading chair. Need to put your feet up (no shoes, please!), the large ottoman is right there for you (you'll find extra blankets/linens inside) and can be turned into a coffee style top by turning one or both of the removable cushion tops. The kitchen table seats two and folds out for more space.
Because a good night’s rest is critical for relaxing and re-energizing, there is a top of the line slatted queen size Murphy bed with a high quality Serta Perfect sleeper, hanging closet space, and shelves. Investing in a Murphy style bed keeps the studio area spacious and open made even more so by the tall 8 foot ceilings.
Need to use your computer to research local things to do, catch up on emails, or do some writing? There is a wall desk with organized shelving that tucks easily away and access to password protected high speed internet.
With the spacious, full size, uniquely designed well-lit bathroom that includes a large glass shower, wall heater, and plush towels, light/ceiling fan, soap dispenser filled with a natural shampoo/body wash product. I've also provided two robes for your comfort and use.
Other features include a large window with good natural light that opens wide to let in fresh air, a pull down shade, and a black out curtain if you like to sleep late. During the spring and summer months, you’ll catch wafts of lavender from the neighboring tree. The window looks onto the side alley of the house, which is fenced in for your security. There is also a wooden luggage rack, tabletop ironing board, iron, umbrella, and steamer available for use. You’ll have access to a shoe rack inside near the entrance and additional hanging space for coats in the stairwell located outside of the unit. This stairwell is a common shared stairwell with the main house but is used infrequently mainly for access to storage, furnace, hot water heater, vacuum hose, and garage.
The Alberta neighborhood is full of a wide range of eateries featuring great happy hour specials, along with bars, bakeries, and unique boutique shops and services. You can find yoga, massage therapy, acupuncture, essential oils, and even a Juice Bus with fresh, healthy juices on tap all in walking distance. The Alberta Rose Theater offers nearby live entertainment and there are plenty of parks in the area, several of which are within walking or cycling distance.
Need groceries to stock the kitchenette? New Seasons is just a few blocks away and every Sunday from March through October, there is a nearby Farmers Market from 9am-2pm.
If you are driving, there is plenty of free parking and you’re also conveniently located near a Zip Car rental stop, one block away from a main bus line, and only 10 minutes from PDX by car, Lyft, or Taxi.
This studio has tons of appeal for those looking for a vacation getaway or a quiet, creative space to write, meditate, and rejuvenate.
This space is naturally cool in the summer. The bathroom contains a high quality wall heater to provide a cozy experience. During cooler evenings or colder times of the year, it electrical heat keeps you toasty via ceiling vents shared with the main house furnace. Temperatures are kept in the 70-72 degree range, but you can let me know if you need the thermostat adjusted. A space heater and extra blankets are provided in addition to the down comforter. Your comfort is important to me, including temperature in the unit, so just let me know what you need.
I am committed to providing you with a comfortable, quiet stay, and I’m happy to help you make the most of Portland’s treasures and fun activities.

I offer both the Energy Leadership Index Assessment (ELI) and the SCOPE Assessment to help you reduce your stress and increase your wellbeing while creating a life of high performance. I have experience coaching cancer survivors, caregivers, healthcare professionals, surgeons, athletes, small business owners, executives, writers, and people who want to get over their fear of public speaking so they can present effectively and powerfully from the stage (or in front of any large group of people).
Guests enter via the private keyless entrance at the back. Once inside the home, a short hallway leads to the door of the studio apartment, also with a keyless lock. The stairwell is a common area infrequently used by me to access a closet in the hall or the garage.
You're welcome to use my back porch to barbecue (just please shut off the gas, clean the grill with the brush provided, and when the grill is cool, replace the cover). My front porch is like an oasis perched above the street, which is why I dubbed it "My Happy Place." You are welcome to make it yours as well during the hours of 7am-10pm. My neighbors all around are also quiet, respectful, and lovely people so I have a strict policy about keeping noise levels down. Please, no playing of music in the outdoor areas.
Guests do not have access to the rest of the home.
As an AirBnB guest, my hosts have always been gracious…often sharing a cup of tea at some point during my stay and some great conversation while also completely respecting my privacy. Your privacy is my number one priority, so the level of interaction is according to your preference and my availability.
Should you have any questions or need something for the studio or recommendations during your stay, feel free to text, call, or knock on my door.
The studio apartment and property are maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness to ensure your comfort. Parking is free - street parking and usually very easy to find right in front. The exception is that due to being so close to Alberta, there are some busy times during dinner hours and weekend nights but spots can be found no more than a block away at most.
My work requires me to travel for business at times so we may or may not cross paths. I live a very quiet lifestyle and seek out the same when I am an AirBnB guest so I always do my best to provide the same to you. In return, please be respectful of the quiet hours (10 pm - 6 am).
The unit is for your use only and is limited to 2 people, no additional guests allowed. Parties are not allowed. If, for some reason, you wish to invite additional guests to stop by to visit, for reasons of safety and security, please ask permission first. Pricing shows no extra charge for guests as no more than two people can be in this unit at any given time.
The electrical panel for the entire home is located in the kitchenette. In the event of a breaker shutting off, I would need to access the unit to reset it but will be sure to notify first and be respectful. The electrical is all new so it is extremely rare (it has only happened once in the last year) for this to occur.
For safety, there is a fire extinguisher and first aid kit. As well, it is equipped with a smoke alarm in the studio and entry hall, with carbon monoxide alarm also located in the entry hall.
Quiet hours 10pm-6am
Check in 3pm/check out 11am - but if you need to come a bit early or leave a bit later, please ask and I will see if I can accommodate. You must check with me first as I often have back to back reservations booking so no guarantee but I will do my best.
Prefer no shoes in house
No smoking anywhere on the property (inside or outside). This includes tobacco, vaping, e-cigarettes and marijuana.
Please, no candles or open flames of any kind allowed.
Something broken or not working? Notify me immediately so I can get it fixed right away for you.
I love my quiet, respectful neighbors so I ask you be mindful and contribute to the peace of our little community by avoiding any excessive noise when entering/leaving the unit or using the porch areas.
When you check out, if you used the complimentary robes and/or socks, please place in turquoise laundry hamper on stairs landing so they can be washed for next guests. If you need refresh towels or linens during your stay, please message me. There is no need to strip or make the bed upon departure. My cleaning company will take care of this for you. Please place garbage in black garbage bin in garage and recycles in box marked for recycle. I'd appreciate you not leaving garbage inside kitchen garbage can when you check out, especially if there is food and/or food cartons from takeout to keep the unit smelling fresh.
I am a certified professional coach working in healthcare to help patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals deal with the stress of chronic disease and caregiving. Tango dancing is my passion, along with writing and reading. Quiet time to reflect and relax is important to me as my work demands a lot of heart and energy. I've dabbled in hot yoga, tried aerial silks, used to own a horse, and was a professional athlete back in the day. After more than 20 years in the film industry working in production, I found a new career and walked away from the old life.
I've studied healing arts, had a part time business as a bodyworker, and love to inspire others through speaking and the written word. I love things like Lyft and Airbnb where we can meet person to person. I love to explore local areas, experience local eateries, and other things cities I go to have to offer.
