Tiny house in a shaded yard with outdoor seating and firepit. Just five blocks from the metro, this is the perfect place from which to explore DC or try out tiny home living for a weekend. Restaurants, bars, coffeeshop, and yoga studio are all within walking distance of the house.
The house has a queen sized bed that sleeps two in the loft and a sofa couch for one in the main space. It has a small kitchen with refrigerator, 3-burner stove, Vitamix blender, Chemex coffeemaker and coffee.
Please note this is a tiny house which means you have to be mindful of energy use - i.e no 20-minute showers or you will run out of hot water! AC in both in the lower portion and the loft which cools down the house very quickly in the hot, humid summer although the house is under shade and has so many windows, fans and skylight that often no AC is needed at all.
The toilet is a non-flush Swedish Separett waterless toilet. It operates much like a regular toilet, and instructions for use are provided.
Please only book this house if you are comfortable living in a tiny house. The ladder to the loft is very safe and at a shallow angle so it's easy to climb up and down. The kitchen also has a Berkey water filter for drinking water if you don't want to drink DC tap water.
Check in / out times can be flexible with prior notice
The house and outdoor deck, yard, and firepit.
You will have the house to yourself as I only rent the house when I'm out of town or staying somewhere else. I leave you detailed instructions about the house and the nearby area, and I am always reachable via cell phone with any questions you may have.
The tiny house is located on a street next to the metro train tracks. At rush hour times the trains can be frequent/loud. I provide earplugs if you need them for sleeping. If the windows are shut (in the winter and in the summer when the AC is on), the sound doesn't carry much inside. You'll only notice when the windows are open.
