Newly renovated Munjoy Hill studio apartment, sunny with water views right across the street. Sleek and modern, it features polished concrete floors with radiant heat and your own private entrance. Easy walking distance to all of Portland's East End attractions - restaurants, coffee shop, markets, beach and the Eastern Prom. And the Old Port/India Street district with its vibrant shopping and foodie scene is just a 15 minute walk away.
Our eclectic studio apartment is located in the sunny walk-out basement of our multi-family home. Right across the street is an expansive view of Portland Harbor. At about 530 square feet, the studio has just about everything you’ll need for a stay in Portland. It also includes a private covered patio just outside the front door with a locking gate. That’s a great place to enjoy your morning coffee and watch the island ferries, lobster boats and tugboats go back and forth.
The studio has a queen bed and two large closets to put away all of your stuff. There is a large TV that comes with full cable access along with fast wi-fi. The kitchenette features a french door refrigerator with an icemaker and water dispenser, a mini-dishwasher, a kitchen island with a butcher block top and appliances. The bathroom features a stall shower and the entire space has polished concrete floors with radiant heat.
We provide all of the standard hotel amenities along with organic cotton towels and organic cotton robes from Turkey. They are the same ones used at Pam’s day spa, Nine Stones Spa.
There isn’t any dedicated parking for the unit, but there is usually ample street parking nearby. I park on the street and haven’t had any problems finding a space. Worst case scenario, you can park in our driveway next to our garage.
You have the entire unit to yourselves. We may occasionally go through the outdoor space to get to our utility and furnace room next door to the studio.
We live upstairs in the building, although we spend much of the summer at our cottage on an island nearby. We are available by phone, email or text if there are any problems or if you have any questions about the space or Portland. Our daughter lives in the unit above the studio and is available to assist you if you need any help. Otherwise, we will stay in the background.
One thing you should be aware of is that there is no oven in the kitchenette - there is a two-burner cooktop, a microwave, a toaster oven, a regular toaster, coffeemaker, etc and plenty of pots and pans, but no oven.
Our house is on Fore Street, which can be a busy street with people walking to work or walking their dogs. joggers and car traffic. As such, you can hear some muffled street noises. We have good insulation and high end windows in the unit to minimize the noise, so it shouldn’t be a problem. And it’s usually pretty quiet at night.
There are other people living in the building, so sometimes you may hear some footsteps from the unit above.
No candles or open flames
Pam is the founder and owner of Nine Stones Spa. Peter is a commercial photographer with a studio in the neighborhood. We both enjoy traveling, meeting new friends, cooking and renovating.
We are brand new to hosting on airbnb and are looking forward to meeting you!
