This was unfortunately our first bad Airbnb hosting experience. Niya and her guests essentially booked our accommodations for a one-night party, even though our listing specifically prohibits such activity. Loud music and shouting were prevalent both inside and outside of our property. We also incidentally witnessed five guests departing at check-out, while our listing specifically indicates a maximum of four. The presence of five guests was further validated by five shot glasses remaining in the sink along with enough empty liquor bottles for at LEAST five people. Moreover, Niya and her guests materially ignored our published house rules, and perhaps more importantly, were inconsiderate of their hosts and surrounding neighbors.
In her review, Niya questions the accuracy of our listing. It is listed as a full home/apartment within the confines of Airbnb’s dropdown menu. Under “view more about this home”, we specifically state that we are offering a “walk-out basement apartment.” Additionally, under “guest access” we state that “guests will have private access to a basement apartment that consists of two bedrooms, one full bath (shower only), fully equipped galley kitchen, and large living room.” There are no shared spaces. We’re really not sure how much clearer we could make it.
Moreover, we believe our listing is as accurate as possible. We also believe our reviews prior to Niya and her party more accurately reflect our commitment to providing a comfortable, convenient, clean, and unique Airbnb experience for our guests.
